Boss Room

Postby duffjessica » 02 Jun 2012, 10:13

found this random Boss room in a mine. Further proof that Notch's game was going to be epic (at least in his mind).

Are those confirmed as boss rooms? I always thought they were some sort of glitch or just a normal part of abandoned mine terrain generation.

In the adventure update trailer that came out last summer it shows rooms like this with a giant skeleton in it.

Technically these are actually the rooms where abandoned mineshafts start generating from (so if you find a mineshaft, you'll eventually get to that room)

The closest I can find to dev mentioning it is from minecraft wiki:

The Abandoned Mine Shaft consists of: The starting point, a large room with a flat dirt floor, an arc ceiling and up to four exits (one in each direction)

Seems like such a random way to start a mine deep down into the world. But then I think the game in general is a bit too random about some things. Like in the trailers before adventure updates started they showed strongholds and mines starting on the surface and extending downward. It makes more sense to me to see some sort of marker at least on the surface the indicates where stronghold or a mine is. i mean the people who built them would need to get inside right?

Every letter had a different image, I'm guessing the third one: Snow right next to desert
