Aquadome Development District

As we're finishing up with the Aquadome build, I wanted to announce the preliminary plans for an "Aquadome Development District". This area would be similar to the D.O.T. restricted area near the main D.O.T. Hub. It would be reserved mainly for oceanic floor-to-surface preservation, but also for future potential Aquadome expansion and expansion in general in a controlled manner. Signs will be placed in the ocean soon to properly mark the area, similar again to the D.O.T. reserved area.

For a general idea of the area I'm referring to, please reference this image. The area in-question is highlighted in red:

North of the main Skyrail line, South of the Eastern Highway, and East just off the Leoville coast to slightly East of Sea Dome Seven.

Those who currently have builds here will not be affected by this, of course. This means that camfair, Abigail, avarant, RualStorage, and another one or two I know of, whom shall remain nameless at this time, will not be affected by this. I realize that it is a large area but, since this is mostly ocean to begin with, most should have no problem avoiding it. I hesitated doing this, but recent events have shown me that if I do not the area will be quickly overrun with builds.

Once I have exact coordinates for this area, I will post them here. If you are not currently in this area and would like to build something, please contact me directly via PM for the time being. A more transparent system for communicating your intent is coming, but I have not finished laying the ground-work for that system at this time. Again, that information will be posted here when available.

for anyone that does build into the area, the landfill island that my fishing shack is built on is not to be interfered with. (shack is labeled, attached to the store barge)

if the landfill dirt island is disturbed, it could cause further destabilization of the ocean floor there, which i reinforced by covering it with dirt, could cause a cave in and i am not responsible for anyone falling into the underground cavern that is in the vincinity. (within the red square at least)

in other words, it is an artificial island, so dont interfere with the build

Heh yes - The stuff that is there now will not be touched/built on without the permission of the original owner. If we cannot obtain this permission, we'll most likely build elsewhere. Either way, I don't have any developments other than the dome itself planned at this time.

expanding the aquadome is one thing, i was more referring to the herp-durr guys that might want to tunnel into my island like a water mole. (aquadome: yes unless you want to appropriate my lot)

so there was a warning from me and you to outsiders not to mess with our stuff.

That is the whole point, but I was being a bit more... Genteel. ;)

Yes, this is meant to regulate free-form construction in this area. It doesn't mean that someone who is known for less... "Complex" builds won't be allowed to build something, just that it will be more regulated inside this district. If said person(s) have a project idea that is approved, someone will probably be asked to assist in designing the build WITH the project originator.

Well, I just wanted to add an fyi regarding this post: Heaven has been moved and I am in the process of updating and expanding it over the next month. The area that the islands may occupy is shown in the included image. I have no issue with structures being placed in the ocean below but the shadows that Heaven creates may not be desireable for aquadome expansion projects. I will avoid placing anything over an existing build (ie. sea dome seven) but any open water currently in this area may have an island above it shortly. If you have questions, please ask.

Regarding my previous post: Recently discovered that heaven cant be protected from trolling again so I am giving the build to asim0v. My concerns listed above are a moot point.

After a long break I've refocused my efforts on the TWiTCraft Museum project and I noticed part of the property overlaps with the Aquadome development District.

As a good neighbor I felt compelled to share some details on what is planned for the area as there are many projects planned behind the museum and in the ocean within the District in an area I'm calling Museum East.

All buildings will be built within my area of control, months ago I fenced and marked off the Museum site and the surrounding ocean as you can see in the image below.

Directly behind the museum will be a pirate cove and a ship I've asked Legida to build.

Further east at Elfqueen's old island home Timberwolf will be building an imposing volcano island, I think it will provide a really cool backdrop for the whole project.

I've also invited Geo and Inertpyro to build in the area and last I heard they will be building a sunken ship, once completed players will be encouraged to swim underwater and explore the remains.

I've invited more players and I'll make a more detailed forum post where anybody can submit their idea to be built in the area as there is a lot of free space surrounding the musuem.

You were included in the "another one or two I know of, whom shall remain nameless at this time".

"Expected", "welcomed", etc. ;) Even if it wasn't, I don't intend to prevent all future builds in this area as previously mentioned. :)

oooh, a volcano island, cool.

will it be a pirate ship? i just want to know what to tell my nin- ARR, my other py-rat compatriots about the ship landin' in the area. arr, grog.

so exciting, my little barge, turned island shack, could be one of those tiny little shacks in between all the cool stuff. where my old hosue will be unique by being small and plain-er. i think i've always wanted something like that but enver considered it with this first house of mine when i built it (end of fall? i know some blocks go back to december)

As you can see, the area has slowly been developed since the first screen shot was posted. The volcano's exterior has been completed, a few abandoned structures have been cleared, and with one exception, because Toucan told Panda the wrong place to build, there haven't been any random cobble boxes popping up. Thank you to all on the server for your cooperation in this!

I've placed markers around this area to inform new players who haven't visited the forum of this District. Their appearance is standardized and follows:
