Disappearing items

Quick noob question...

Yesterday afternoon I dropped an enchanted sword in my house and it disappeared. Later in the day several other items did the same.

I restarted the game and even rebooted my computer, but it still kept happening.

This morning I came back onto the server and everything was back, scattered around the house in small collectable blocks.

Could one of the experienced players explain what is happening please?

Also, if its a known bug/setting, could it be added into one of the guides please as I wasted two hours looking for these items.

It's lag, what happens is you take an item like a Bow from your chest, you head out to fight a Wither and you reach for your bow and its gone. This actually happened to me.

You check your chest where you took it from and it's still there. I think this is getting fixed in the next update, we'll see.

Yah, this has happened to me before. It's just lag (and annoying ).
