Re: NightWorldSky [Unbanned]
Info delivered via town hall is irrelivant. Many of us have schedules that prevent going and I have no interest in listening to or watching a stream of it after. The forum is the place to post new info/rules/policies. Thanks

asim0v I think this was a bit too harsh a penalty without properly notifying the community that using afk machines will get you banned. NightWorldSky has been an industrious and enthusiastic player on TWiTCraft, the type of player we should be encouraging to play on this server.
Keep an eye out for a proper post on the forums regarding afk.
Thank You Vantes

Macros are a set of pre-programmed keyboard and/or mouse movements and clicks. For example, if you press one button, it would trigger the computer to automatically type in several buttons automatically. I think the macro in question here is one that constantly holds down the space bar. This is different than physically holding down the space bar with something like a paper weight.
I believe one of the points trying to be made with Rule 6 is that all keyboard and mouse input must be made by the actual player demonstrating their actual presence and skill in the game. Perhaps the rule should be re-written to say this exact same thing.

Re: NightWorldSky [Update 2 Days]
Banned 2 days for duplicating items.
Some players in mumble found an exploit that duplicated blocks, I was notified of this glitch by a player right away and soon after other players in mumble found the exploit as well.
I checked on all the players that knew the glitch and none were actively exploiting it except for Nightworldsky. This player found a way to duplicate items as well and continued to duplicate items and blocks.
Duplicating items is clearly against the rules Nightworld, please don't do it again.

Re: NightWorldSky [Update 2 Days]
so what about ... sand blocks from block duping machines? .... vantes's stack of duped dragon eggs? .... multiplied iron & gold ingots in furnaces via rollbacks? .... gaining bedrock blocks using only logblock commands? .... multiplying minecarts on tracks via logoff and logon? ... etc
There have been a lot of block/item duping glitches and exploits used by me, vantes, NWS, and many many others over time. Although NWS made a mistake by exploiting whatever glitch was in play recently, in the spirit of fairness I request that myself and every other player who used sand generators, duping machines, and any other block duping mechanism (players who are now moderators included) also receive a 2 day ban effective immediately. thanks.

Re: NightWorldSky [Update 2 Days]
Timber, nobody is going to be banned because they used a dupe machine almost a year ago, or for taking ingots that were made during a rollback or giving themselves wooden picks with log block commands. Curley made it clear he would start banning people that gave themselves bedrock until he turned off that ability.
This new exploit is dangerous, it turns TWiTCraft survival in to creative mode. Anybody using this exploit to give themselves items and blocks will be banned.

Re: NightWorldSky [Update 2 Days]
Ah. Thanks for the explanation. The way the ban was phrased, it seemed like a block/item duping method on par with the examples I gave. If the method is that powerful (creative mode) then forgive my response as whatever action taken to stop this exploit seems like a good idea. Thx again.

Re: NightWorldSky [Update 2 Days]
There were only few items that would "glitch", I went to all my bases to see what would dup and what wouldn't. I checked bones coal and some potions at my shop. I only duped things a few times to test, sometimes when I went into the dispenser it would automatically have glitched stacks rather than one item. I had no plan on selling and/or majorly using these items. I did not intend to do something wrong, I would have most certainly though that vantes would say "don't dupe your items guys, it's a bannable offence" in mumble, but as you can see that didn't happen. And vantes anout that PM you were talking about, I would not say anything in TWiTCraft that I did not want the mods to see. I am very aware that the mods can see just about everthing done in TWiTCraft. I just cannot get over the fact that you (vantes) were very aware that players (including myself) knew about the glitch and you said NOTHING, that I am aware of. Maybe I am missing something? If I am let me know

Re: NightWorldSky [Update 2 Days]
Is there any way that an appeal can be considered on a technicality? The rule below says the player must benefit from the exploit. Has there been a demonstration of NightWorldSky's benefit from the duplicated items?
You’re not allowed to use Hacks, cheats or exploits to benefit you in the game.

Re: NightWorldSky [Update 2 Days]
Using a glitch to dupe items is an exploit plain and simple. That much should be obvious.
Re: NightWorldSky [Update 2 Days]
True but that is only half the rule. Plain and simple.
I only ask that the whole rule be considered when trying to fit it to NightWorldSky's actions.
For example, in the USA, drinking and driving at the same time is against the law. Drinking itself without driving is not against this same law. This is an important point I am trying to make.
If NightWorldSky has not benefited from the duplicate items, such as they just sit in a chest unused, then perhaps if he agrees to eliminate the items, could his ban be reconsidered?
Please understand that I am only asking. I fully intend to comply with the rule about allowing moderators to do their job.
Thanks.

Like I told you in irc Night, just because I'm aware of a glitch doesn't mean it is ok to exploit it.
By your logic Nightworld, if somebody announces in Mumble while a mod is on that they found a way to x-ray and were actively using it, and the moderator didn't say anything, it would be ok. It's not. If somebody is breaking a rule like x-raying, I'm not going to warn them first and say "Hey, don't x-ray", they will be banned.
X-raying, duplicating blocks and griefing are clearly against the rules.

Re: NightWorldSky [Update 2 Days]
Also, there is a nuance here that hasn't been addressed, you were the only player that found a way to dupe items, yet you didn't tell anybody, you didn't notify me. You were busily using it to duplicate items/blocks.
I'm pretty sure other people used the glitched blocks innocently and discovered that they could be used to dupe blocks. The first person that discovered this immediately notified me through pm.
Nobody that I saw was actively making copies of items/blocks and putting them in storage, except for you.

Re: NightWorldSky [Update 2 Days]
Ok, I can see I just made things worse for me. I will wait another day, get on mumble and hopefully can explain myself better that typing on a computer. I am honestly sorry and have been stressing about it all day, I will just wait till tomorrow and I can have a civilised conversation with you guys... :/

Also just to be a nit picker, there are laws against public drunkenness. So they analogy isn't the best as the situation is more from a perspective point than a legalistic. Goobler out!

Re: NightWorldSky [Update 2 Days]
Public drunkeness is also 2 things. Being in public is one and being drunk is another. Neither of these things alone are illegal provided you are of legal drinking age and not restricted to a location like a convicted criminal.

Re: NightWorldSky [Update 2 Days]
Skyer,
So the point I believe that you are trying to make is that under the rule, "You’re not allowed to use Hacks, cheats or exploits to benefit you in the game," NWS was banned for an application of the first half of it (using a glitch/exploit). That this part is true should be obvious. The part you are questioning is the second half (that NWS benefited in the game from using it). The mods (and I agree) very likely see that any aquisition of additional blocks/items (whether they are put in a shop, stored in chests, or used immediately is not relevant) that add to a players assets permanently in TWiTCraft Survival, fulfill the "to benefit you in the game" part of the rule. From what Vantes said, the items were being created and stored in quantity and repeatedly. This qualifies the benefit portion of the rule regardless of what the item type was (anything from dirt to diamond pants). Although there have been overlooked exploits in the past (Sand generators .... ::cough::), I can only assume this exploit is potentially far more dangerous to our economy and therefore requires a stronger response to prevent its use.
I know you weren't asking me but I thought I would try to answer.
Thanks for your patience.

Re: NightWorldSky [Update 2 Days]
Thank you Timber. You understand my point completely. Let me also say that I'm sure the moderators understand my point as well. I don't want them to think that I feel they misunderstand me which I don't.
With vantes acknowledging that the items were created and stored, the complete truth was revealed to me. It sounds like a stockpile of high quantity was created. This amount would be more than just a few test items to be destroyed after testing. That was final part of the rule breaking I was looking for. I am positive that vantes had this complete picture at the time of the ban placement. Now I can see that an appeal is not justified. Thanks to everyone for allowing me the time to go through this exercise. I look forward to when we are all back on the server playing together again.
