Re: tufkal [1 week]
You have got to be kidding me right?
I'm a bukkit dev, and multi server admin, who finally took some time to check out the TWiT server, after hearing about it on several podcasts for months. On my first day, I read the forums and the rules, but never got a real good clean feel for the direction of the server. I wondered...
Was PVP on? Which block protection? Which chest/door protection? Did they allow /home and /spawn? How many worlds, and what multi world system? I quickly figured most of this out in the first 10 minutes, but many questions remained. Obviously Leoville was a squared out area the admin's handled, but beyond that what was the law of the land? I noticed LWC and WorldEdit/WorldGuard were in use, so I figured everyone just claimed their own land and protected it.
I found a nice cozy corner that was not /region claimed, near the city, and I built a small house. I later found out that the land i chose belonged to someone else, but they had not claimed it. I gladly gave it back. No hard feelings, just learning how the server works. There were after-all no signs, no claims, and no FAQs explaining this.
On my very first day, I when I was determining what blocks were protected and what blocks weren't, figuring out the system used and what was allowed and what was not, I mined lots of blocks. Wood, wool, glass, to see where the boundaries were (again, since this is not clearly stated anywhere). I put most of them back of course, not wanting to disrupt the look of people's carefully crafted train tunnels and roads I was testing.
So fast forward a week, and I am now comfortable with the server layout and community. I made a few friends. I was actually in the middle of seeing Legida's super impressive Japanese themed town, when i was whisked away. I found myself staring at some blocks I had mined in the first 30 minutes I played a week earlier, as a admin appeared. He demanded I replace what I took, and I had 1 minute to do it.
1 minute? Really? OK fine, i /home, grabbed all the red wool I had, and asked him to TP me back. I filled it in but was a bit short. I said I could make some more to fix it, just needed 30 more seconds.
Banned? Really?
Not only is block ownership not documented anywhere on this server's wiki or forum, I was given treatment like I was a repeat offender and then banned with nazi speed. I even gave my explanation and offered to put it all back, i just needed to /home again, grab 2 things, and have him bring me back again.
I knew what I did was wrong, and had forgotten about it completely, and felt bad. The owner of those red blocks I actually met earlier today, and saw the inside of his castle. But before I was even given any real opportunity to explain myself or talk to anyone, or fix the problem which was completely within my power to do, I was expelled?
Either this server has a real problem with griefers, and the mods have become a bit trigger happy, or I apparently missed something. A mod that behaves like that has forgotten that this is a game, and a game with no instructions to boot.
Regardless of the outcome of this post, please take this as a suggestive post, with constructive criticism.

Re: tufkal [1 week]
Unbanned.
Leon, this is ridiculous and you know it.
Tufkal, I apologize for the vagueness of the rules/standards on the server. I consider myself to blame for much of the lack of communication. I keep telling myself to sit down and write guides, FAQ's, wikis, and whatnot, but I always get distracted by other things. However, in the future, it's probably best to just ask in the chat if you have any questions, instead of just breaking blocks to see if they're protected.

Re: tufkal [Appealed]
Understood Demon, and thank you. I had most everything sorted out by talking to some of the wonderful players on the server by the time this happened 5 days later, but WorldGuard never forgets! I'm very happy this was resolved, and resolved quickly. I look forward to playing tonight!
