TwitCraft shutdown

Postby Curley » 30 Jan 2015, 11:49

Hey all. Twitcraft is officially closing it's doors.

Some things to know:

- All Maps as of right now are backed up.
- All plugins and stuff related to are backed up as of right now.
- The server will remain up for 1 week from this post (till Friday Feb 6th)
- For the one week period the map files will be found here (mc.twit.tv/archive) I've separated them per map to save everyone bandwidth and time.
- For the one week the minecraft server itself will remain up for those that have no desire to download the maps a chance to say their goodbyes and take screenshots or whatever you feel will suffice.
- Nothing that happens on the server from here to Feb 6th will be included in the backups.
- After Feb 6th the server will shutdown, the forums will go away, along with the IRC, Website, and mumble.
- After Feb 6th the hosting of the archives will be removed. (I'll of course still have the files so if someone realllly wants em we can set up a torrent or i can host em from home for a bit)
- After Feb 6th by request only i will offer up an archive of the plugins folder for spigot. I know it's silly but I only feel comfortable sharing that once i have a chance to go through it with a fine toothed comb to remove anyone's personal data and all my SQL passwords.
- As far as I'm concerned you guys are welcome to do whatever you please with the maps and files I offer (host em yourself, play on em in single player, Blow things up, or print out physical copies of builds and have a ceremonial bonfire if you please)
- Be awesome to each other

For any questions or requests for info I may have forgotten to include here please hit me up on twitter as that is the most easy way for me to remember to get back to you in a timely manner.

Always and Forever,
Curley-panntz

Yes, I've been a bit rude. You and Vantes (as well as any other mods) have done a great job with this server.

Thanks for leaving it up for as long as it lasted. Hopefully everyone will still be able to get together on occasions.

So sad to see TWiTCraft go. While I've not been active on the server in some time, I met so many awesome people from ChatCraft/TWiTCraft and had so many great times. A standing ovation to all the awesome people playing there over the years and especially the staff for their hard work. :D

Thanks for founding and hosting TWiTCraft all this time. It was a great server and everyone I have met on it have been really good company and friends. Shame that this is the end now.

As a courtesy, I and others have set up mirrors of the archives, with torrents possibly on the way:

Also, I'll be blunt. I think it would be a great disservice for the server to go down without any public record of where previous players are gone. Forgive me, but with the announcement of shutdown of TWiTCraft, I would like to disregard the rules on advertising. I mention these communities only so people know where to go next. I am doing this on my own personal accord and not on behalf of anybody else. I highly encourage others to please share your communities or servers you have been.

  • Gamealition: This is where I moved on to and is a gaming network I administer with three others. We've been keeping a good Survival server going in a similar vein to TWiTCraft, plugins et al. There's also Creative and FTB Direwolf20, whitelisted and we're always welcoming new players, but we expect quality on our Minecraft servers. A lot of TWiTCraft players have moved on to here and we are moving onto newer hardware this weekend.
  • NightCraft: A passionate and very creative community, where a lot of TWiTCraft players have also moved on to. They host a lot of minigames servers as well as Survival and the community are incredibly warm and welcoming. They are planning a "reload" of Survival on the 1st, including a clean new map, so now is as good time as any to join.

There are other private/whitelist servers, but I am not mentioning them out of respect, unless they otherwise wish to share.

This was the second Minecraft server that I had ever consistently played on starting back in April of 2012. If you look closely in one of the old server screenshots, you'll see me standing in the back of one of the group screenshots mooning the camera... We won't talk about how sober I was or was not at the time... ;)

I've met a lot of cool people, a lot of irritating people, had some laughs, had some hair-tugs, and I'm truly saddened to see the server go away. If any of you are of the mind, please feel free to Tweet at me - @papa_poster.

I'll try to hop on a bit this coming week to send TC off properly. Thanks again to all of the mod and admin site for an overall enjoyable run.

Thanks Curley for running the map as long as you did. Twitcraft was the first Minecraft server I ever played on. All the time i spent playing on here (Which is in the 1000's of hours) were some of the most fun times I have had and wouldn't change it for the world. If i could bring back those day, I would. I met many great friends in this community. It makes me very sad to see it go. There are a lot of other servers, but none will have the same impact on me as Twitcraft has.

Also is there a way to archive the forum? There is so much history on here, it would be a shame to lose it all.

Twitcraft is the third server I played Minecraft on and for many reasons, a place I have called a "second home" for its entire existence.
I'd like to extend thanks to Curley, our fearless admin for building and maintaining Twitcraft.
Thanks to all mods, past and present, for your time and efforts to keep Twitcraft a pleasant place to play for all of these years.
And finally, the entire community. MANY friendships have been forged over the almost three year lifespan of Twitcraft and I have made my share of good, lasting friendships with good people here.

I have enjoyed this experience and value the time spent here. I've enjoyed building a community on each of the two maps. I have loved seeing everyone's builds and have learned some way cool techniques that I have included in my own builds. I've enjoyed building homes for many of you and have loved the feedback. I have loved the suggestions on build designs. Most of all, I've really enjoyed this community and hate to see it go.

If anyone wants to reach me, I am at ngtflyer@gmail.com

I also run a private server that some of you are familiar with. We're stable and sitting pretty on 1.8 Spigot. If you're a player that hasn't visited for awhile, come on by. If you're an adult Twitcraft member with no ban history, shoot me an email and I'll consult with the other admins. :) One of the main credentials we consider is if a player has ban history here. I will be saving that list :)

It's been a lot of fun. Again, thanks everyone. Cheers and keep in touch.

Well folks, such is life, one day passes into night and so a new dawn breaks. The community has gone through so much and much gratuity is owed to our great and noble mods and Curlz. I look back at all the great times we've had and the great builds. Where would the UGGR be without all of you (excluding rich uncle Poster ;) ). Remember comrades a closed book is only highlighted by the cracking of a fresh spine and the first pages of our new adventure! So comrades, mourn your loss but look to the new day and remember we shall persevere!

Twitcraft was my first Multiplayer Minecraft, and I had a lot of fun, met some wonderful people, mined a lot of clay.

Thanks to the Moderators and Admins, and all the great people. The communities live on. The server is code and pixels; ephemeral, unreal. The people are solid, precious, valueable, magical, Real.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

TWiTCraft was my first survival server. I have played many hours on this server and others. But nothing will compare to the fun I had on this server, playing with friends, starting a new project basically everyday, watching all the noobs try to be cool, and finally interacting with the people that I've never seen with a naked eye. The mods I thank you for all your work and loyalty to the server. I also thank Curley for running the server. But most of all, I thank vantes. Vantes has always been consistently playing on the server whether I'm not there or I am. He always checks griefs immediately, always makes sure that new people are finding there way around. And like always making everyone have fun. I hope to see all of you on this final 7 days of torture to see the server go.

Twitcraft was my first active server. I used to come home, and get on Twitcraft daily. I got 2 of my friends on there, and they loved it. Im so sorry to see it go. RIP Twitcraft, you had a good run while it lasted. GG and goodbye all my friends. But we must move on.

I would like to say thank you to all the mods (and curley) who kept this server running. This was my first "Minecraft Home"/First server I played on (probably why I was one of the 'derpy kids' for the first 6 months or so that I started playing :P and sorry for that). I met some awesome new people, and just wanted to say farewell and thanks.

Aw.

So sorry to see this server go. It was actually one of the first public servers I played Minecraft on! And I built two super-fun houses there on two different maps along with Helicologo.

To Curley and all of the mods, thank you so much for your patience, attention to detail, and for holding this thing together for so long - you did such a great job with it, even though I'm sure there were plenty of annoyances (*I need this, I need that, help, help, meet me at spawn!*) along the way ;)

To the friends Helicologo and I made here: thank you for being so cool and funny and so quick to welcome us! Many a long night, especially in the winter, was spent making bad jokes, dissecting music and movies, finding random gifts of horses, and "going shopping" in our universal and awesome quest to build better.

I especially would like to shout out to VanDerProtofsky, PosterAnonymous (I miss the trivia challenges!!), VanteS, NightWorldSky, the elusive Timberwolf, Asim0v, and of course NgtFlyer, who has been awesome in welcoming us to his new server.

So to our TwitCraft pals - please do stay in touch!! You can find us on NgtFlyer's server for now, and hopefully some other fun places in the near future (I think you can also message us here? Not sure about that, as I don't know how long this forum will be available...) Helicologo and I also plan to download the map so we can have a "scrapbook" of all the fun we've had with you guys so far.

Take care and we'll see you soon in other Minecraft-ty realms! xo PyxisGirl
