Vantes,

I briefly saw your post last night and I could tell that this thread took you by surprise. I can't tell you enough how sorry I am about that. I know we have had our personal differences but I am also well aware of how much you invested in this community and your dedication to role as moderator despite a dwindling player base and with little to no support. A really huge THANK YOU! from those of us at TWiT who are aware of this server and care about such things as branding and player experience. You rock.

Everyone else,

I see that the end is near despite the posts a month ago that were hopeful of the future. I am sorry to hear that. There is another option here that had been pitched to Chad and Curley months ago but has been largely ignored. This option would require the cooperation of both the current admins and many of the interested TWiTCraft community members and I fear it may be too little too late. The box is provided free for TWiT's use and if access was given to a TWiT Tech by Curley instead of being simply shut down, a group of interested & trusted community members could be assembled to admin/moderate the server and both allow it to continue and receive support. It is, after all, free hardware. The explanation that I got from Chad a few months ago, when investigating this option, was that Curley simply did not want to give it up. Perhaps it is a personal project for him that he is unwilling to share. Perhaps he just doesn't trust anyone else with the job of administrating this server. I don't really know. But, as far as I understand with the information I have, that option still stands. It just requires cooperation.

If not, then I wish you all well. From all of us at TWiT, we wish you Good Luck!

Sincerely,

Timberwolf1777

I don't understand why the server can't continue under new administration. This is TwitCraft, not CurleyCraft.

If there's an option that could be explored but is simply being left off the table, that makes this all even more frustrating.

This was the server where I met the majority of my friends and truly started gaming online. I spent a lot of time here working on projects, helping people with theirs' and spending time with friends. My time on TwitCraft has helped me grow as a person and I am grateful for that.

Here's to a great server. May it rest in peace, and I hope to see you all again :D

Please post a sign(s) in game at spawn or at all the spawns and lobby about the server shutting down. Quite a few kids online today had no idea that this was coming.

Well it's really sad to see TWiTCraft go. I've had so much fun on this server over the 3 years it's been around. It was the first minecraft server and online community I've ever joined. It will be sad to see it go. I've grown as a person from it. The admins and mods did a great job right up till the very end of keeping things maintained and running smoothly. I remember all the technically hiccups we had but they all got resolved in a timely manner. Well peace out TWiTCraft it was fun. Also much thanks to the all the Mods, Admins, Server Central and TWiT for doing this!

If you wanna reach me outside of TWiTCraft the best way is my Twitter @spinnibbler.

Cya guys elsewhere.

I have greatly enjoyed my time on TWiTCraft, and am glad for the friends I have made here. Thank you Curly and mods for the countless hours you have devoted to making this community run so smoothly even through rough times. The is the first server I joined, and it setts the bar high for expectations of community, and impressive builds. I hope to keep up the the group of folks that made this place great.

Thanks for hosting Twitcraft as long as you did. I haven't been a member long but this was my very first server.

I just have one question, Why is it shutting down? it doesn't really explain that.

And again thank you all for your kindness.

This server has been up for almost three years. It was originally brought up as part of GameOn, a show on the TWiT.TV network and has been a component of OMGChad's show OMGCraft. With the reduced player count and with Chad's OMGCraft moving off of TWiT, it was decided not to continue running this server.

With TwitCraft's days drawing to a close, I would like to propose one build, which has represented this server and its community for its lifetime, be preserved in exact state as built, on my server Midgard. Midgard has been up since April 2011 and will continue to be up for the foreseeable future. We would like to officially preserve the Clock tower, in center Spawn, between City Hall and our Portal building. This will place it on the other side of the road from our spawn point.

I would like to place a sign on the exterior at its base, the original builder(s) and month of build. Does anyone know these?

For reference, here is the location for the clock.

Which version of the Tower? I was looking over Chad's shoulder and talked with him as he helped 2 others (Idk who ... maybe demon5 and .... ?) work on the very original tower in the original Leoville spawn. I seem to remember having a convo with him about designing the clock face & using iron fence for clock hands. At the time, they were working on the clock face and roof. This was a couple months before the server launched in April 2012. I had already started to work at TWiT so I think it was late Feb 2012 but I can't remember for sure. I do remember Chad doing a couple redesigns of the roof. When the second spawn was created, at the time when Asimov and Vantes were added as mods, the base of the tower was modified but I'm not sure by whom. Then the map was reset and I lost track of anything to do with TWiTCraft. I hope this helps.

It helps. I'll credit Chad, Demon5, Asim0v and Vantes on the sign. If it's discovered others worked on it, I can always add them.

Thanks!

During a spawn redesign we decided to do away with the old town hall in favor of a new one. I wanted to keep the clock tower around because it was a staple for so long, so I added the bottom half. It went through several changes over time including the version in TWiTCraft now. There were some other additions added like the secret room full of public anvils and the viewing deck inside. I don't know who designed the original, but I definitely designed the bottom half for the free-standing tower. VanteS helped some as well. Before that, I can't say.

I had a fun time with all of y'all, but its time to close our imaginary services. Fire all employees.
Also, we shall all get on servers where people play know, otherwise we will lose contact with all and wont see each other again.
