DOT: Update

Postby Robrotheram » 05 Jan 2013, 20:09

Update 5.01.2013

What is been going on with DOT:

Rail:
Work is well on the way for overhauling the entire rail system.
The locations close to spawn ie Twit Museum flea-market sky5 etc are almost connected by one line "Circle Line" This means form any of these stations you can get round the loop without changing. if the station you reach is not the one you are after pree the button and you move onto the next one.

Some of these station will intersect with the Main long ditant lines to the HUBS North South east and west (South and East not built yet) For the north hub change at grand Central Station (GCS) Weston Hub change at Desert Station, for south Sky will be the interchange point.

Future work:

The hubs at South and East need to be built. After the main hubs are running an information point above GCS will be made giving users easy instruction to get to places such as Fairy Tale Land

The fairy tale line between GCS and Legida Castle will be removed and replace with one that goes directly to the weston hub. although roughly equal in length in theory should be faster and save dot over 16 stacks of rail which can be put to other projects.

Notice:
I have been mainly concentrated with rail But Dot needs someone / people in charge of maintaining the roads and signs.

Again Any resources you have to spare donate to dot to improve transportation,

There's a line that starts somewhere on the eastern side of that big bridge (http://mc.twit.tv:8123/?worldname=survi ... 9999999999) and runs north. I believe the line was started by plugmyduck, and then I hooked up to it around here (http://mc.twit.tv:8123/?worldname=survi ... =-3211.875) and ran it into further north into my castle.

The problem is, when you reach it's southern end point, it's just a station on the ground, and doesn't link into the existing bridge rail at all. I'd like to remodel this line to better integrate it into the overall system. The line could even split at the northern tip where it currently turns east to come into my depot, and have a hub to turn west and connect to this fine patch of land (http://mc.twit.tv:8123/?worldname=survi ... z=-4183.75), from there it could go even further west, and then finally loop around south and bring it back to spawn.

Personally, I'm a big fan of one main line you could ride all around the entire map and just watch. It's easy enough to stop where you want by punching the cart, and it's easy to build onramps to a line that don't require stops. The key would be establishing the main loop, then having people link into, like a the Washington DC beltway.

Oh! and one last suggestion, someone should create a Metro style map of the rail system, as it exists, and as it is planned, and post it to the website. It would be nice to look at a map, and be able to figure out how to get from my castle to the airstrip.

First the map is a bit old I need to remake it after I fix the rest of the transport issues

On the new line thanks for letting me know of its existence. There will be a Easten hub more East than its station But since the line is double I be easily link the line to the new Hub
