Community Event Planning - Pre 1.7 Reset and Beyond?

Postby blendermf » 19 Oct 2013, 02:12

Leading up to the 1.7 we had said we wanted to do some fun things to keep the community together and having fun while it's known that the current map will go away.

We have mentioned a PVP no rules type thing closer to the actual reset, but for now we don't know when 1.7 is coming, and when spigot will be ready for it, so we feel like we need extra things, that are sort of regular.

So this post is here for you guys to suggest events to do with everyone. Things like PVP maps, adventure maps(not sure how that'd work with lots of people, but hey, we can experiment), even other games like TF2. Things with a low barrier to enter are probably best, just so we can get the most people together. Once we get enough posts, we'll start picking some ideas (or maybe do some kind of voting, idk) and start officially scheduling events and coordinating with people involved.

This post could just morph into general event planning beyond 1.7 if you guys want. We'd like to focus on having fun with the community more often in general anyways.

I still have enough entries in my database for a weekly game of trivia. Perhaps I can do these at a fixed time rather than spontaneously, for better player counts. These get real fun when there are diamond blocks and other crazy prizes added to the pot :)

People could always give Marvel Heroes a try I know it might not be for everyone, but much like TF2 its free to play, very different from Minecraft and something to do.

Yeah we could try that. I've never played, but hey, superheroes are cool right?

...Anybody want to play SWTOR with me, its free? No? Is it dead? Am I crazy? Maybe? (sorry, I have to make use of that collectors edition somehow  ) PVP spaceship fighting when it comes could be fun though (that may be after 1.7 comes out).

YES! Seriously, playing that with a group of people is one of the funnest things I've done. Could be crazy with a good portion of the community joining in, and that would be cool.

I used to play SWTOR as well. Funny enough right until it went free to play. I think Twitcraft took over my gaming time.

We already have a save, and we've been planning on slowly removing rules and restrictions on the server leading up to the reset.

By the time we get right near the reset (some time in the last week/ couple of days) the server will pretty much be hardcore mode with no restrictions.

Once TNT is enabled, I'm planning to stuff the mountains near my base with TNT and set it off. Anyone who wants to help with the light show is welcome!

Multiple players and i have been playing MineZ on and off the past week. Anyone is free to join, its just hard to have a set day. Usually people talking in mumble decide to play at the time. I can try to coordinate a set date for everyone to play and post it here. (maybe Friday?) For now your best bet is to hop in mumble and see if someone is playing. (most likely there will be :P) I'm usually free to play anytime after 7 pm EST :)
