I am hoping to build Stormont again, I am hoping to build it in the area of mountains and plains. Well there is a nice oasis that I want to built on.

I'm eyeing that swampy region west of the new spawn. I think the build I'm planning would look good there.
On an unrelated matter, I cannot find anywhere what's the max size of regions we are allowed to create. Just want to know if my planned build will fit before bothering a mod to make a region.

The mods have stated that if you need a build regioned they can make one for you.

While the temptation to snag hardened clay from the Mesa biome close to spawn will be strong, might I recommend a few alternatives?
First, I'm sure the mods will be creating a new resource world for us as well. Instead of tearing up a surprisingly nice part of the new map, maybe you could work with some players to find the Mesas in resource and harvest from there?
Second, there is a smaller patch of Mesa biome along the southeastern edge of the map. With the new stargate system, one could warp to the southeastern desert town and quickly make their way to the Mesa. I for one would appreciate seeing that completely depleted before we started going to town on the more picturesque section closer to the main spawn.
As for claiming, if we're staking claims now I want the Mesa island south of spawn located here: http://mc.twit.tv:8123/?worldname=new_survival&mapname=flat&zoom=3&x=1853&y=64&z=1300. My plan is to preserve as much of the landscape as possible while building a small community of Adobe-themed homes and *maybe* shops. I'm more interested in the homes than the shops, to be honest. I'm going to call it "Isla de Mesas" for now... Until/Unless I come up with something better.

Ugh... No. Can we just have a "Ground 4" instead of a "Sky 5"? I liked the idea of Sky 5, but I didn't like it hovering over a large ocean close to spawn. Maybe if it looked a bit like Legida's floating temple... Maybe...

one of those islands between spawn and the mesa biome look like a modest place to start. I can either go big over the water or have a quaint home over an underground complex with glass roofs and rebuild some of the glass domes i made on old twitcraft. so that anyone sailed for the mesa will see them underwater.
i still have all the graph paper for the sketches of the different dome sizes i made so that i can recreate them again with sand and drop them on the bottom.

Yes, the Resource World will be back! Please don't rip up the shiny new terrain when you can go strip mine Resource all you want.

Unfortunately, the Stargate plugin broke and has not been updated yet. The author is working on it, but we'll have good old Multiverse Sign Portals to start with.

I am not planning to rebuild Sky5 or any other city. I simply don't have the time for that anymore. And with the addition of 5 official cities that people can build in from the start, the need for a Sky5 is severely diminished. Remember when buying plots in Leoville was a joke? That's why I made Sky5. The launch of TWiTCraft 1.7 will not have that issue.

The rules are being revised for the new release, so look for them soon. That being said, I believe the max size of 30k blocks for a region is remaining. Subject to change, though.
I also want to point out that there is no calling dibs on an area. When the server opens, everyone is able to get on and claim their land, but no claims here are official in any way.

i understand that my "dibs" was not official and those islands could totally be taken by other people by the time i get on. just as a matter of politeness i was stating where i would like to build and we can be all neighbourly about where we intend to land grab.

OK, that's what I figured! Like Abigail, I just wanted to voice my desire outright. I figure most of us are gentleman/lady-like enough to not step on each others "claims". Either way, I'll be on as soon as I can and plan to harvest some trees for sign-making. After that, if the area I'm interested in is still free, I'll place signs around the island's coast similar to what I did with the Aquadome Development District. I have other areas I'm interested in, so if I cannot get my main choice I'll still have some smaller projects/areas I can work on.
Speaking of, does anyone want me to revive the Aquadome project or would we rather just hold off and see if we get a PvP map? If it were to be revived, it would probably be on the back burner for a long time mainly due to the fact that no one will have sufficient supplies of Lapis, Quartz, etc. for me to purchase/trade/beg for.
P.S. :whispers: asim0v is really living up to his "Destroyer of Mirth" title, am I right?

Another project: I'd like to make a small boathouse on the shore south of the main spawn. It would sell/buyback boats similar to the way the rail system sold/bought back mine carts. I initially wanted to do a practical design with working dry docks, etc. but I decided that I liked this build's overall style more:

If I do this, maybe I could talk someone into building a pirate ship nearby similar to the one Van and Co. built on the old map?
I'm sure we all want to know, but there's not even a guarantee it'll open on the 1st. I suspect that the plots we've all cited will be available for at least the better part of a day. We also have to keep in mind that the stargate functionality is being added as well. No longer will all of the newer players feel obligated to live right next to the central spawn point in order to find shops/open land.

To be clear, we have not announced the server opening on January 1, 2014. It was a date for us [the mods] to aim for, but it isn't a firm launch date.
