TWiTCraft Historical Prservation Society

Postby PosterAnonymous » 16 Sep 2013, 21:20

All,

This is an idea that some of us have batted around in the past and I think, with our current discussion about potentially resetting the map, it's become even more relevant.

I would like to create a forum-based registry of historically important builds on TWiTCraft. These are iconic builds, such as Leo's Mansion at spawn, that would be protected from removal even if the owner(s) of said build quit playing on this server. Continued modification by the current owners would of course be allowed, but if the owner was to leave the server the property would be maintained as-is and would not be eligible for /modreq removal. They would also be the first builds to be transferred to a new map in the event of a reset.

For now, I would like for any interested parties to post a quick reply listing their top 5 builds on the server. Once this has been done, I'll take the top 20 properties and open up voting in a separate thread for the first 5 preserved builds.

I will get this started. Please use the dynamic map to provide rough coordinates for the builds you wish to nominate. I've reviewed my initial choices from last night, so forgive me if some have changed. In no particular order:

1. Fort Valkyrie/Legida's Castle - X=-2235, Z=-494
2. The Citadel - X=348, Z=431
3. Dio's Home/Store - X=318, Z=297
4. The Observatory - X=822, Z=1716
5. The Airfield - X=2918, Z=3002

Please remember that this does not bind the moderators in any way, shape, or form. They can act/not act as they see fit. This is an agreement between us, the average players on the server. Also, do not discuss the choices of others - this is a simple request for your opinion in general, not your opinion of other's opinions. ;)

my top 5 builds would be:

Hyrule X = 1000, Z = 1400
Legida's builds X=-2235, Z=-494
The Citadel - X=348, Z=431
aqua dome X = 700 Z = 300
TwitCathedral X = 0 Z = 72

There are my top 5 but 6 would be the lighthouse of lag (X -80, Z 122)for just saving the memories of the tps drop when it ran.

1. Legida's Fairy Castle (especially the underground section): X -2300, Z: -1050
2. Aquadome: X: 740, Z: 270
3. Citadel: X: 347, Z: 430
4. The Observatory: X: 820, Z: 1710
5. Tie between Sheep Port (X: -150, Z: -4000) and the Airfield landing strip (X: 2910, Z: 1300 through 3000)

Now, I don't exactly get around much on the server, so I'm not the best judge of what should stay. I literally just listed all but two of the notable builds that I've actually seen/been to.

I purposely left off builds, that I believe will already be popular such as Legida's build and the Citadel, so that I can mention lesser known but yet still iconic builds.

Sandale 4400 3200
Sheep Port -300 -4150
Edgemerian's Castle 2100 -3900
Minion5051's Glass Cube 3100 100
Bladelands 1300 500

Although I adore my home, I am going to be a gentleman and follow Poster's great example by not nominating any of my own builds. My Top 5 are (in no particular order):

1. Aquadome: X: 740, Z: 270
2. EDIT: Android_FA5's SciFi Desert Compound X: -430, Z: -1670 (Although currently unfinished as he was offline for months, he is now back & working hard on it :D)
(Legida's Builds are very well covered here so I am removing them from my list because: of course these will be noted)
3. The Observatory: X: 820, Z: 1710
4. Dio's Shop: X:320, Z: 300
5. The Airfield Runway: X: 2920, Z: 1300 through 3000

Id like to give an honorable mention to both the SGS HQ Tower: X: 120, Z: 90 and Hyrule Castle: X:1030, Z: 1435
I did not select these for consideration as both builds are still unfinished.

EDIT: Additional honorable mentions: Hanging Gardens: X: 170, Z: 870 and Sandale: X:4400, Z: 3200 and (for fun) Edgemerian's weird Giant Statue: X: 2500, Z: -2200

Legida's Picks:

EDIT: I posted a screenshot to hopefully prove that I didn't make them up myself. His list is:

- Fort Valkyria/Valkyrie (not sure if that's a typo)
- The Citadel
- Dio's Home/Store
- The Airfield
- The Aquadome

First, I would like to say that I am enjoying all the love that the Observatory is getting lately. I knew when I started building it that it was going to be impressive but I was not expecting the reaction that it has been getting in the TwitCraft community, so thank you all for that! With that being said I will also follow Poster's lead and not vote for my own build. Here are my top five in no particular order:

The Citadel: X: 347, Z: 430
Fort Valkyrie/Legida's Castle: X: -2235, Z: -494
Aqua Dome: X: 700 Z: 300
Hanging Gardens X: 130, Z: 830
Sheep Port X: -300, Z: -4150

Well, I would like to put in what I think would make the new world look nice, and I'll save the reason why I won't put the Airfield on the list later for those that are curious. In no particular order:

The Citadel
Fairy Tail Castle
The Observatory
Aquadome
Fort Valkyrie

I am very honored that the Airfield has been nominated for Historical status. Thank you all! After working at SFO, NAS Moffett Field, and NAS Alameda developing my knowledge of aviation, and making sure I stayed within FAA specifications and scaled it properly, I only recently finished Runway 18/36 (with Night Landing Approach Lighting System) after over a year, complete with under-runway support rail. Four of the planned hangar buildings are still non-existent as well as Hangar One modeled after NAS Moffett Field with the USS Macon airship. Taxiways are still being paved as well as the aircraft ramp to the underground aircraft hangars. Surface-to-Air Missile batteries are few and far between, and Artillery guns modeled after Iowa-class battleship turrets are still in development. It's obvious that I bit off way more than I could chew, and I'm practically logged in every day.

The Airfield currently consists of an Air Traffic Control Tower which is my home, a Runway, Airfield Village, and the Airfield Defense Wall. Since Airfield Village is no different in terms of a community like Sky5 or Lakedale, I have no expectation of all of those lots being preserved or moved, nor shops, commercial districts/buildings, and public farms and livestock. AirTrain Stations would be obsolete in a new world where new destinations would be unknown. And to be totally honest, the Air Traffic Control Tower went from being accurate to a "I'm rich!" building. :D

So in a nutshell, if for some reason the TWiTCraft community would like the Airfield transplanted, I would be honored to have it to work on and complete all of the planned hangars, taxiways, underground parking areas for A-4s and F-4s, and the USS Macon with Hangar One. If it doesn't survive the vote, I'll be sorry to see it go, but I'm sure I can think of a smaller dream to work on in the new world.

My top 5 in no particular order :-

Legida's Builds
Aquadome
Citadel
The whole of DOT (I know it's spread all over and not strictly 'a build', but it is still an epic construction.)
Observatory

There are many builds I have not seen (to my shame). These are the ones I have seen.
Home, where my thought’s escaping
Home, where my music’s playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me

Slightly altered my list to include Android_FA5's Desert Compound as he is now back after months and working furiously on it. I expect it will be done by the time 1.7 happens.

You can't really see this on the map so here's a pic so everyone can enjoy.
