is there a way i can down load this map to my computer so i wont lose it all ?

First, there are client mods that will download chunks as you load them and the mods have said that this was ok. I don't have a name offhand, but I'm sure Google, "Minecraft world downloader" will get you somewhere.

Second, if this question has been spurred by our recent discussions I wouldn't worry just yet. There's no guarantee that anything will happen anytime soon/ever.

One such (and seemingly the only) mod is WorldDownloader @ http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/144 ... oader-mod/

I am afraid that it is not a Forge or ModLoader mod, so installation may be difficult. I had asked if the moderators were okay with this mod and they are, however some users suggest using this mod only when it is quiet (e.g. only 2 or 3 players on).

If, and only if, the world is ever incompatible or reset I will package it up and offer it as a download.
