So those diamond blocks weren't generated they were pilfered from someone?

The griefers spawned them in yesterday, dropped them in the chest and the kids started giving them away and placing random diamond blocks in roadways.
I've been trying to track them down today but the kids are reluctant to give them up. It is funny seeing them with full diamond armor and finding chests stashed with tons of diamonds.

Offer them "budder". they seem to like that.

Re: Grand Compromise
Question! On this server refresh, could I build my own "settlement" type town or something, a little ways out from the main hub? Cause, while I love you guys and all, I also really like living out in the wilderness ad building it up myself.
if that's alright, then I don't care what you do!

Re: Grand Compromise
Been giving it some thought. After this diamond debacle and the realization of the dwindling player community, I have to admit that a clean reset may be exactly what we need when 1.7 comes for the good of twitcraft. TWiTCraft may lose me and a few other oldtimers but that may be a small price to pay for the good of the server.
Vantes, as much as I hate it, for these reasons, you have my support.
All I can say is that I will try to restart with everyone. If I can have the Citadel when the new world starts then I will immediately focus on community projects & transit systems. If thats not possible, I do understand, and will either move on with my life to other endeavors irl, or play on twitcraft but ignore community projects & try for many months to rebuild it before reinvolving myself in shops, roads, rail, etc. I may get bored with the rebuild and leave anyway. I dont know. This is the best I can say.
Thats all I got.

Re: Grand Compromise
Glad to have you on board Timber, wish it were under better circumstances but glad nonetheless. Now keep in mind this might not even happen, I have no idea what the other mods think but having a united group pitch this proposal to the mods would give us our best chance at getting what we want, stargates included.
So I don't want anybody to think, "Well since the map is getting reset why should I continue to invest time and effort on TWiTCraft". If you feel that way then you aren't giving credit to the countless hours that people have already spent on amazing builds in TWiTCraft that people continue to use and enjoy. I am still working on projects in TWiTCraft, we don't even know when 1.7 will be released and we don't know when a stable version of spigot will be released.
So continue to play and go about your business as normal, the current map isn't getting reset, if anything we might get a new map gen'd under 1.7 to start fresh in.
I look forward to hearing from other players about this proposal here and in the meeting on Saturday, this is not a done deal, keep the ideas flowing.

Lol my diamond sell chest had a stack in there. I can only imagine its from this. Thankfully I had it mostly filled with dirt....
As far as a new map. I like the idea of bringing key builds in and building communities around them. Maybe have town mayors with limited mod abilities to help keep the griefing down. Even if we do decide to do this, we all know how long it takes before we are able to update. Not to mention possible bugs, setting up a new Leoville, ect.

Do you have any clue how often you talk completely out of your ass?
I love TWiTcraft. I jokingly express distaste for the playerbase at times, but I consider TWiTcraft to be some of the most successful content I've had the honor to put myself into. That being said, in the past several months I've had very little to do with the way the server is run; I stopped giving my input shortly after I stopped frequently playing on the server.
Your assumption that inactive moderators give a significant amount of input towards important decisions is not only completely inaccurate, unfounded, presumptuous trash, but an insult to our active moderators as well. You insinuating that our active moderators are trusted with some insignificant amount of power shows a complete lack of understanding of everything they work hard to do for you. Blender, iPod, Vantes, and Asim0v are trusted with an enormous amount of decision-making power, and any one of them holds infinitely more weight than "D5/ Cheeto/etc."
Want to know a secret?
"Not naming names but the idea was shot down by other decision makers because [it was not vanilla, it was decided that it shouldnt happen that way, etc etc] (aka) NO"
is Curely's go-to way of avoiding confrontation when your idea was disliked by a large portion (Normally all or nearly so) of our active moderators.
I want to tell you a story. I don't expect you to care, but I'd like to tell it anyways.
It's 2011. Around January or February. I'm 14 or 15 and sitting in a Tinychat room late at night with some interesting people I've never met before. The conversation drifts to a game some of us have recently been playing, called "Minecraft." The room quickly empties, and three of us remain.

This was the first night in a long time that I'd felt friendship.
The next day, we started the server fresh. We called it "Chatcraft." By the time I logged on, Blender had made a beautiful spawn building. We called it "The Info Center." Days passed and the five of us built and built. Hilp left in the early days of the server; but shortly after he did, large, impressive buildings appeared all around spawn. Server logs told of a stranger named T2t2.
The server grew, and as it did, I fell in love with the new friends I had made. It's never been easy for me to make connections with other humans before, and these new friends taught me about life, love, failure, and success. They taught me to be proud of the things I make, and to never stop creating. They taught me to "Never take no bullshit." I learned about religion, politics, money, and happiness with these people. The friends I've made from Chatcraft are some of the best friends I've ever had, and we experienced each other through a shared world of friendship that cost us $10 each.
It's early 2012. My friend Chad Johnson has been discussing with the Chatcrafters the idea of creating an official TWiT server, and he wanted us all to help create it. Most of us jumped at the idea, but some had reservations. "What about our world though?" we asked. "Will we have to give it up?" In the end, we decided it would be best to create TWiTcraft and focus a significant amount of effort towards moderating and making it a success.
I threw away Chatcraft for you. I decided to lay to rest the world that I'd worked so hard in. The world that I'd made friends in. The world of friendship that created me.
I threw it away for you.
I love TWiTcraft. I don't regret for a moment leaving behind Chatcraft for this. How could I? How could I regret taking part in creating a world that has made so many people happy, crafted so many friendships, developed so many lives just like mine? I love TWiTcraft, but I often find it painful to be a part of anymore. You people act like children, constantly bickering and biting at each other. You've turned something I love into a bitter, angry place. People like yourself make it hard to be proud of this place.
I miss my world of friendship.

Re: Grand Compromise
I will say regardless of whatever bullcrap is going on currently, demonfive is right. We started doing this stuff because we had a passion for it, we had fun doing it, and it has given us friendships that I would have never gotten otherwise. I mean, it's a game, and sometimes we forget that, and get far too heated over things. None of us are in it for the power, we're in it because this is how we've developed a connection, and this is what we've been passionate about.
From time to time, some of us may be less active for times (some times because we periodically get bored, sometimes because we're tired of dealing with crap), and sometimes we disagree with each other, or the player base, but I don't feel like any of us are trying to stifle the community. Sometimes ideas happen that we feel as a moderator group could be hard to manage, and cause problems on the server, and we'll decide not to implement them. It's not always easy deciding what to do as a group to keep the server running well.
Anyways, just my 2 cents.
Also, in regards to demons post, lik dis if u cry evrytm.

Re: Grand Compromise
Thank you D5
Seriously.
That sense of joy, friendship, excitment, and community between you all and the ideal of TWiTCraft was palpable in the first few months. I watched over Chad's shoulder as you and Chad and others worked on building the original spawn for TWiTCraft. Honestly, those moments of sensing the joy and friendship you all shared are what drew me in to get excited about TWiTCraft and Minecraft in general in the first place. I freaking love this server too and there is nothing I wouldnt do to make it viable and a wonderful place to be. I try as best as I can (being a player only) to address the needs of new players, file modreqs on their behalf, etc because this world/community means that much to me.
You all inspired me in the beginning. You brought me here in the first place. I would never have even begun to try to enjoy the world of TWiTCraft had it not been for Chad and the excitement he shared with me and the sense of community he showed me on chatcraft.
The issue I have now is that the original mods (save ipodparf) have all been mostly absent from regularly participating in our community for over a year now. I understand that you all have lives. I get that you love TWiTCraft (Thank you again for your heartfelt words). But if what you say is true, and the majority of you all (especially the active mods) decide against an idea that we present then why not just write a forum post saying, "We talked it over. We dont like it for these reasons: 1, 2, 3, etc and so its not gonna happen ... rather than time and again allowing our passionate ideas/conversations to dribble off ... only to be restarted a month later with more rinse repeat of the same as before? Just tell us what/why/how the ideas we pitch will/wont be a good idea so we both have feedback AND feel like our moderators/admins (even those who dont play much) give a crap about us. This trickle down communication style leaves us frustrated and feeling like no one really cares. Your post shows that you care very very much. Again: THANK YOU! Just please keep us in the loop rather than feeling like the uninformed masses and we will love you all for it. Good communication is so valuable for participation and moral. Please please share with us. We dont want:
Just let us know it was disliked.... please. Confrontation is a normal part of negotiation and the ONLY way of redefining an approach (if even possible) or allowing one side of a discussion to peacefully step away from it. Feelings wont be hurt for that long but this etherial lack of info we get builds miscommunication, assumption, and resentment. Please participate & talk to us. Thats all.
Seriously.

From the whole Mod-Drama part of the thread, I think that's the general sentiment the frustrated players have. Just talk to us, maybe poke your head in the server more than once every month or so for 5 minutes, and just let us know that you guys are there and thinking about us. Maybe some flowers... Dinner... Some beer... Your Creepy Uncle Poster likes to be wooed every once in a while... Just sayin'!
From the original compromise subject of this thread, I fear that this recent diamond dump has sealed the fate of transferring chest items from one map to the other. I'm perfectly OK with this. Next question: Will our money totals transfer at least? If not, that's going to sting far more than the item loss for me...
All of that said, if I was delivered upon the shores of a brand new Leoville with nothing but the player skin on my back it would not cause me to leave this server. Temporarily inconvenienced, yes. Quit-worthy, no. Transferring builds/money totals would simply be icing on the Spawn Cake... Which I miss, btw...

Just to let you guys know, over the last few days we've had a lot of discussion over how to improve our communication with the player base, and how to get ourselves set up to more easily and readily take community input for how the server should change. We have some ideas and we'll let you guys know when we implement those.
As a group we've kind of noticed a little bit of a lax in communication and activity (besides just activity on the server, which there are some extremely active mods) and we really want to fix this and reinvigorate things. We agree that things need to change a bit.
We have even threw around bringing something back (in a little different way) that hasn't happened in a long while, I'll leave it at that.

Re: Grand Compromise
OK - I asked around and researched a bit and I think I found the perfect solution for the Pro and Anti-PvPers alike:
http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/togglepvp/
This lets you set whether or not you *WANT* to engage in PvP anywhere on the server. Toggled on? No PvP for you no matter where you go! There are multiple plugins that accomplish the same thing as the link above that the mods could choose from.

Re: Grand Compromise
Blender,
I think I speak for many of the players when I say thank you for acknowledging that there have been problems. All too often are people, all people, more willing to argue back and forth over "who's wrong". Instead, everyone - players and mods alike - need to take the approach that Blender and the other mods are beginning to take: acknowledge there is a problem and work together to finding a solution.
I think we are all looking forward to hearing what you (i.e., "the mods") have come up with and working together for the good of the community.
I will gladly offer a few bottles of Rougaroux spirits to get things started.
*salutes Blender*

Re: Grand Compromise
This question is somewhat related to a potential reset...
When it comes to regions, would there be changes to the size/number allowed if we switched to a new map? If there is an increase in size, would it be possible to have the regions be "squared" instead of "cubed"? Basically, you get a (for example) 100x100 region, but it stretches from sky to bedrock. Similar to the principle of air and mineral rights if you own property. Might require some thinking for routing transportation and similar services, but that's were the community can come together to develop a solution. Just a thought.
