PVP in resource world

I have been talking to friends(yes I have friends Andrew) and we thought it would be a great idea if resource world had PVP enabled. Obviously not everyone agrees wholeheartedly with this. If you have concerns please respond to this post and we could discuss modifying the rules of PVP to make everyone happy.

Why do I want PVP in the resource world?
That's a great question. Resource world provides infinite resources that can be sold and easily accessed without fear of dying by a player. A diluted market makes prices lower and profits are lower. Also it will make armor sell like hotcakes like never before, and a possibility for new job openings such as mercenaries and body guards.

I agree with the PVP in the resource world I think it would be a great attribute to the server and make things a lot more interesting... As TSC said.

I'm against it as it will lead to bullying, gang violence and other banes of society. Players hold their belongings in high regard and when there is loss there is also anger and grudges. This suggestion will draw in the criminal lot and fail to "un-dilute" prices. Or, it will be a worthless change as our current community members are too good a people to steal from others or to enjoy profit from ill will. It's already a worthless idea as someone can just teleport home when they find something valuable to put away.

If you want a second resource world with PVP turned on but use a tool like world painter to boost the diamond ratio to 90%, then that's an idea I can get behind. High risk with high reward make sense. Then make it so the only way exit the world is through the spawn portal that you have to walk back to because /mvs and /spawn are turned off. I don't want to lose my diamond armor to some killer while I'm on a quick run to stock up on cobblestone. You'll find people will just start to mine out the main survival map again.

PVP has its place in playing minecraft but I specifically come to TWiTCraft for its peace.

Or it could be set up to where players don't lose their things when they die from player damage, so that people could still have PVP matches for fun, but no one is snuck up on and killed by a griefer.

I am not in favor of this. Aside from not actually liking PvP, I don't believe this will be a positive change for the community. The resource world exists for 3 reasons: 1) So players can tear it up getting the resources they want without making the survival world ugly; 2) So players have access to new world-gen resources like nether quartz that won't exist in the current survival world unless it gets a reset; 3) So the ender dragon gets reset and more players have the opportunity to kill it.

What would be interesting is to introduce arenas like there used to be in World of Warcraft. It's a designated area where PvP is enabled and people fight for the chance to get loot from a chest that gets spawned in. People would intentionally accept the risk for a chance at loot. The only downside to this is it would require a moderator to set it up and run the event manually.

I think this part is really interesting because players will have to decide to roll with less protection and possibly less to lose, or use nice gear and be better protected but have a higher value riding above their head.

I'm a bit biased in my opinions on this (If you saw me attempt to play on the Survival Games server, you know why :p), but I honestly can't see much good coming from PvP in resource. As a Halo player, I guarantee some fool camping out by resource spawn with a power V bow and diamond sword, taking shots at players and grabbing their stuff. Even if Andrew's suggestion is used, it would be just as annoying to have somebody tail you to your base/mine/whatever, whack you in the back, take over and strip the place before you manage to walk back. (Easily gotten around by setting home in your base, but still.)
And honestly, will the complaining and frustration be worth it? I can see a lot of "Vantes/Ipod/Asim0v, <username> killed me and stole my stuff! Ban him!", followed by a reasonable explanation as to why the person shouldn't be banned, followed by begging and finally a pout and a grudge. I think that's a bit of undeserved torture for our mods. And, unlike you, Touc, not everybody here likes to mess with people ;)

I'm all for PVP in resource world, but it's not happening, sorry Tookie. It would be great if we got that survival games map back up to exercise those PVP muscles.

I came to Twitcraft because I had been slaughtered almost before I stepped out of the portal in a PVP server. If I wanted to play PVP I would go to a PVP server. So, sorry, no, not in favour.

I wouldnt have any problem with there being a PVP world, and I might go there to get better at PVP play, (and perhaps go back and get my revenge on that other server) but I like that Resource is quiet, only the mobs and the environment to deal with, somewhere to go when the pace gets stressful in the main world.

I would have to say that I am against PvP in the resource world. I can see it as an opportunity for trolling. I know that many players on this server have very good armor and weapons that some other players wouldn't stand a chance to. But, perhaps we could have arenas in a separate world meant for PvP. Maybe the old creative portal could lead to it.

I want PVP everywhere. Is it mainly because I want to be at spawn in Leoville, firing redneck fireworks that could actually potentially injure others and myself? You decide...

I love the idea of a "wild west" style resourse world in theory only.

In actuality, I would probably just mine the main survival map only when I wanted to go mining so that I could avoid the trouble. Most players would probably do this also thereby defeating the entire point of a resource world. It would likely just become the "pvp world" instead.

That... Sounds horrible. Going to pass on the offer. C-IV's and up just make me sleepy, which is no fun. And Red Bull is awful. I'd rather drink my Jager straight-up... Maybe with a sippy-straw.

Pain reliever is a non-brand term, yes. I was going more for "naproxen sodium", "acetaminophen", "ibuprofen, or "aspirin". Red Bull is liable to make me yak. That stuff is gross... Just like 5-Hour Energy. :shudders: Only time I drink that crap is when it's 2 am and I'm pulling an all-night road trip.

Yeah. They both kindof taste gross. I love the effect though. Redbull is the only way I can haul my old bones to the gym for two hours every other day. Without it, i would probably just be a lazy puddle somewhere.

My idea is use the empty portal in the lobby for a PVP specific world. This will make easy access to it and players wont have to bug mods to TP them to the world. My 2 cents :)

I would prefer to see PVP and Survival separated, so that I can get through a normal TwitCraft day without any PVP.

I think this is a great idea. Keeps it separate but still very accessible.

I also think there are many servers that I can go play PVP on, Nd generally I do not build on them - that is what TwitCraft is great for!
