The case of the missing horse...

Postby HGLCraft » 24 Jul 2013, 01:31

Thanks to Uncle Poster, I became the proud owner if a horse - since my base is a reasonable way north, I decided to creat a spot for her in the basement of my new shop,

Problem 1 - I created a fenced area that did not protect the horse from a murderous player (animal cruelty authorities have been notified).

Take 2 - vantes resurrected the horse and I created an enclosed room to protect her.

Except now the beast is missing, asim0v has checked and there is no record of where she has gone? She was tamed, but with no saddle on. Unless the horse shrunk and learned to use a door - this is very odd..

Has anyone else had any similar buggy horse issues?

Not with a horse going missing, just leads disappearing - which annoys the heck out of me.

Some of these you have already addressed, but here are some possibilities for all players who experience this:

- Horse wasn't tamed (you did this and it doesn't seem to always hold true - I've been able to keep untamed horses for days without issue)
- A player found the room, accessed it, and took the horse

And the most likely:

- Horse clipping is a mess right now and the horse most likely glitched into the wall and suffocated

I've lost several horses already to walls, so this would not surprise me. Solid walls + horses = a bad time.

Fear not, player! I have come up with a solution that, while ridiculous in appearance, does work (assuming you do not have a region allotment available): Locked signs, chests, and furnaces.

First, fence off your horses. Next, place locked signs on all of your fence posts. Then place locked signs on the floor under your horses. Finally, place furnaces and chests on every block above the horses and lock each one. The most a griefer will be able to do from this point on is kill your horse, which can be rolled back. As I said, it looks ridiculous but it does keep people out.

The strange thing is Prism will show animal suffocation as a kill. Now it's possible Prism just doesn't have the ability to detect that for horses just yet, but it definitely shows it for cattle. I used to have animals suffocating all the time at the new Sky5 animal farm.

Problems with horses is the reason I'm pushing for the stables plugin to be implemented.

Once again, I find myself agreeing with PA. I must be coming down with something fatal... ;)

Thanks to Poster I have Horse 3.0 - unfortunately the only place I had to put him was in my "death showroom". I made it a bit bigger and remove the surplus decoration blocks - so hopefully he'll be alright.

If any if you are in the area (East Leoville downstairs from the mansion) please visit my new "SuperStore" and say hello (while you still can).
