New sign on the server room door
I love that someone who works here took the time to design & print this sign for the server room under the control desk.

Shhhhh .... So many secretz!

I believe so. Regardless, I can ask for access when I need it. My DMX lines from the dimmer board route through a rack mount opto splitter in there. That server room is primarily devoted to handling the tricaster's overhead and feeds. There are some dedicated skype machines in there. All remote video and audio feeds go through there, get separated out, processed, synced and then fed into the tricaster. I'm not completely familiar with all the hardware in there (I mainly just do lighting design and control and in studio camera settings) but next week when I go in again, I'll see if I can grab a couple shots.
The other server room handles most of the data management and network tasks. I have included and image of the data/network management room and the cable bundle that connects the two.

So we could host twitcraft there if we wanted but I think sabotage would happen if someone got pissed lol

Re: New sign on the server room door
The actual TWiTCraft server is apparently quite a beast... 16 Cores, 40GB ram, etc. I understand that it and the bandwidth are being kindly donated for our use. The main issues (lag and such) are definitely not hardware based. More likely is that Java + Minecraft + plugins = unreliable. Although (in theory) we could have a server in house, bandwidth is a valuable resource here as "Live" is a critical component to Leo's vision. Also, throwing a bunch of money toward creating a comparable server would not be in the studio's best interests, especially when we have been gifted all the bandwith we need and on such a powerhouse of a server.
TSC, I may put on a show on occasion (jump up and down, freak out, rail against silly decisions, etc), but I love TWiTCraft. If it was here, I would probably obsessively visually check the server every day I came in, just to make sure it was still running. Knowing me, I would also have the TWiTCraft world backed up in triplicate on multiple raid towers, just to be safe.

Heh we have the exact same Panduit rack in our network closet here. Not bad overall, just a pain to get those panels to snap back on every now and then.

Good thing it's Trivia Night at the Mellow Mushroom tonight and someone is driving me there and back!

Re: New sign on the server room door
Old creaky topic, I know.. Went looking around for this so I could find the particulars.
In my many years in IT, the PowerEdge 1950/2950 servers are the most widely used and most reliable servers I have ever come across. Even now that they have all aged out of primary production, many are still in production in secondary roles and I rarely see a failure among them. Very, very solid hardware.
The fact that it has Harpertown E5410 processors puts this server as a Gen III. That puts the age somewhere between 5 and 6 years old.
