Google Music All Access is worth it!

Postby thesillychicken » 18 Jun 2013, 23:44

So I spent about 2 hours importing a playlist from a friend via a text file (it was a painful but worth it). The playlist consisted of about 400+ songs google missed only 14! So if you want to save a few bucks get it before the $7.99 a month price goes away (June 30).

I used Spotify when it was pay-only for a while. I found I was listening to my collection of music that I already owned more than Spotify, however, and cancelled my service. It's nice to be able to listen to a song that I don't already own, but even at $7.99 a month, it'd be cheaper for me to just buy a song/album on the rare occasion that something I want to listen to comes out (Translation: Poster is old and the new music you whipper-snappers are listening to suc-- does not appeal to him. ;) ). Any reason other than the latest hip-hop track to use this service?

I use Spotify extensively and love it. Well worth the $10 / mo. For me, the biggest draw is the offline mode for downloaded playlists. I can't get a signal worth crap at work. In fact, if I don't put my phone into airplane mode, the battery in my 4S will be dead in just under 4 hours. If I could get a signal, I'd be using the artist radio more and would consider a switch to Pandora. As an iTunes Match subscriber, I'm looking forward to trying out iTunes Radio [ad-free] when that launches.

To be honest all streaming sites are pretty much the same it's just what camp you want to sit in.

I did consider iTunes Match for a while, actually. I like the idea of being able to load my music if I'm away from my main iTunes PC and something happens (I've had an iPad die on me while I was out and about).

iTunes Match is very much worth it to me. I've lost all of my music twice before when I had a hard drive die and when I accidentally formatted the wrong drive. $25 a year gives me peace of mind that it's all there if I need to re-download it all. Furthermore, I get to stream it instead of downloading music on my MacBook Air, saving that tiny hard drive space for more important things. Being able to listen to all of my music streamed to my Apple TV without having to setup a messy media share server or airplay all the time is also great.

Yeah... If they charged $35 and added videos to the service I'd be all-in.
