Update to 1.5.2

Postby Netrok » 14 Jun 2013, 13:47

I haven't the foggiest idea what mods the server uses, but 1.5.2 has been out for a while, is there any chance of an update?

It's mainly an ease of use issue, lots of people don't wish to, or don't know how to, downgrade their clients that frequently just to log into the server.

CraftBukkit just today released a recommended build candidate of 1.5.2. Think of a recommended build candidate like a release candidate. Barring any huge issues, the build will likely be advanced to a full recommended build in a few days. Now, we don't run CraftBukkit, we run Spigot for the server. Spigot is a fork of CraftBukkit, so in addition to waiting for plugins we are waiting for CraftBukkit to be updated to a recommended build, then Spigot to get updated from the CraftBukkit updates.

We have updated the server before a recommended build was available, and it was nothing but problems. Sorry for the long wait, but it's better for the server to wait instead of having game-breaking bugs or an unstable server

May I add also that most likely because of the lack of an update, the server population has been lately between 0 and 5. Updating it would let more players enjoy the game, while stimulating the in-game economy!

EDIT: Got on and there were 10 people, so yeah not too bad

Part of that is the warm weather Andrew. Personally these days I would much rather be skateboarding or riding my bike in the sunshine than staring at a screen. Of course, once we do update, kids on summer break will start to log in regularly again.

Waaait, are you saying that there's stuff outside? Oh yeah, I forgot about that thing ;) May I add that the Texas weather has made it impossible to go outside without melting. Humid + 95F heat = owww.

Thank you for your quick reply, Asimov. I do remember previous attempts at updating before a stable loadout could be achieved and it was indeed less than pretty. I appreciate the info and update on where we stand. As Andrew stated, I was concerned that the population was low due to the server still being 1.5.1, but Timber brings up a valid point and both are probably valid. Either way, I look forward to an eventual update and am happily hoping that with this new CraftBukkit iteration an updated Spigot may soon follow.

Also, I obviously need to move to California.

I know what you mean, Timber. I've only been on my computer once in 5 days to print out a piece of sheet music.

Yeah Hamy, I have maybe actually played a 8 hours on one day in the last three weeks. Although, I love TWiTCraft and enjoy my time mining and slaying dragons in the company of my block pushing friends, with several new projects at irl TWiT and warm sunny weather to play in, MC has taken a serious backseat recently. I keep planning "Afternoons on TWiTCraft" but somehow they keep getting pushed aside. I miss the community but I think the new balance is a bit better. :P (In March I was often sleeping in my office between back to back 16 hour long game days! ... not the most productive period of my life!)
