Away From Keyboard (AFK) Limits and Bans

Postby VanteS » 30 May 2013, 15:14

The TWiTCraft moderator team has decided to prohibit the use of systems and techniques that circumvent the 10 minute afk time limit.

In the past the use of these systems and techniques have been allowed and even encouraged by some moderators.

Going forward, If a player is found exploiting a system or technique to avoid the 10 minute afk time limit, he or she will be banned from TWiTCraft. The length of time on the ban will be determined at the moderators discretion.

It may take a while for this message to percolate through the community so we will do our best to inform players of this change and directly message players that continue to bypass the 10 minute afk time limit before imposing a ban.

There are many reasons why we have come to this conclusion, most importantly we want to make sure valuable server resources are spent on players that are present and actively enjoying the TWiTCraft experience.

I encourage everyone reading to help spread this message to new and old players. You guys form the heart and soul of the TWiTCraft community and your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

The TWiTCraft Moderator Team

So I assume this means the moderators will be policing themselves and not engaging in behavior players are not allowed? Just making sure we're all on the same page here.

This is complete BS. I'm glad the moderators are working on keeping the players happy.

Was not meant to be accusatory or anything. Just confirming that everyone is being held to the same standard. It's the internal auditor in me.

It's for everyone.

The only thing I could think of breaking that for is to test anti AFK measures.

In general though moderators follow all the rules that have been set.

As a mod the only time I spent more than 10 minutes "AFK" was putting Minecraft on my second monitor to periodically monitor the chat, and to see if I had received any PMs/Modreqs (since those messages are in a different color and would catch my eye.)

As long as mods aren't using AFK to their advantage in-game ("their advantage" meaning "not gaining blocks/coins/mobs by sitting AFK for more than 10 minutes" - Monitoring chat/players is a completely different matter), I see no problem with this. Thank you for clearly stating the policy in a forum post.

I second that opinion.

Yeah, I'll do that every once and a while (however I don't use any afk "machines" for that). I didn't even really think about the non-game uses when I posted that.

Sometimes there are things that are useful for moderating purposes that are beyond what a normal player would be allowed to do (obviously).

I like this policy of verbal warning before banning a player. I have already removed any AFK machines from my builds.
