dio: No the funny thing is how, in less than 24 hours, 4 more 20-minute votes magically appeared to create a tie. Guess it's a good thing that I, totally for giggles and not because I had a feeling that the results would change in favor of extending the AFK time once the poll was mentioned, posted that pic of the results yesterday before those 4 *completely* independent, brand-new votes from 4 individual players who totally never voted in that poll or commented in this or other threads on the subject magically worked their way out of the woodwork, happened to be for the exact same position you supported, and didn't appear until after I cited the poll's results for my competing argument yesterday.

Yes. Funny indeed.

The point is that it's easy to point fingers when things aren't going your way. Forgive my analysis of the situation, but I get the impression that some among us would not be questioning the validity of this poll if the results had always been in their favor.

Timber: In elections do we award the other sub-candidates to the #2 position because they didn't vote for #1?

Example: If Candidate John Smith of the Tastycrats* won with 49% of the vote and Candidate John Doe of the Fingerlickin's lost with 48% of the vote, do we round up all the third-party/write-in/blank votes and award them to John Doe because they weren't votes for John Smith?

That's not how it works in polls for multiple candidates, so I don't think it's how it should work here. That said, I agree that it should be a poll based upon polar opposites for the most accurate results - "Should the AFK timer be increased? Yes or No?" It'd probably be better to have a poll where the various increase times duke it out and the winner goes up against the status quo because some players might be for a 20 minute increase but vehemently oppose a 60-minute increase. If you vote for an arbitrary increase with no time specified, you might get a 10.1-minute AFK timer instead of the timer increase the majority may or may not desire. :)

Just wanted to give you all an update. We discussed this today in the mod chat, amongst other topics. The consensus is that the time will not be changed.

Toward PA's election comment:

Bullpucky. The poll was poorly done when obviously a majority of players wanted to extend to afk kick time but because they couldnt agree on how long, the old time wins? Thats not how democracy works when there is an elected official alredy in office. First you vote to impeach. Then you vote for which new guy u want. Sounds like you support communism when democracy wouldnt work in your favor ;)

Is a rail loop a violation?

It would be if it still worked. The current plug in will kick the rider of a rail loop even before the 10 min mark after just a few loops.

Hmm, guess I haven't used my furnace loop in awhile. Just tested it and you are right. Gonna rip it up now.

To quote Professor Farnsworth: Bwuhaaaaa?

Communism would just have every player on the server led to the polls at gun-point, 99.9% of the vote would go to a single option, and the 0.1% would magically disappear that evening... This ain't Goobnesia!

An alternate thought?

Can the AFK time be based on server capacity? eg. at times when there are 4 or less players on (I had the whole world to myself last night) then the time could be extended to a longer time, resetting back to the normal time when things get busy.

That way if a player has a lot of cooling / growing they want to get done, they can pick a quiet time to do it?

Things aren't going my way? From the looks of that poll, 27 people want the time increased, 14 don't. I could of just made a simple 2 answer question saying "do you want the time increased? check yes or no" but I figured I could kill two birds with one stone and get an idea of how many people would want it increased and around about the time they would want. But I guess that is just too hard to comprehend for some people. "Oh my choice is in the lead, I must win!"
