Resource world reset schedule

Postby Timberwolf1777 » 08 May 2013, 21:15

After speaking with a couple players, I have found that the largest complaint regarding the resource world resets are that they aren't predictable in the slightest. If it is reset once a week (seems too fast to me personally) thats fine. If it is reset once a month (seems like the perfect length of time to me) thats also fine. The problem is that we never know whether its gonna be a week or a month. Several players would love to start a couple builds (that we cant do in the survival map) to take advantage of what the resource world has to offer (like silverfish farms and other ideas) that would be worth the time investment if we had month between the resets but with the threat of a weekly reset always looming, none of us proceed with these projects ..... even when the reset happens to be a month later. I understand that Curley is a very busy man and does the work on twitcraft that he does out of the kindness of his heart. We all appreciate it very much.

My proposal is that a monthly reset schedule be created. Maybe within 5 days of the 1st of each month?

1. It would relieve any pressure on poor Curley to do weekly resets
2. It would allow players to take advantage of the month long time window to do fun "current MC version required" experimental builds and use the world resources available in 1.5.1+
3. It would allow answers to be given to the players who constantly whine wondering about when the world will be reset
4. It would allow each world to be more fully utilized rather than only a fast weeklong strip mine right around spawn
5. It would build more anticipation for each monthly ender dragon fight

Thoughts? Thanks

I third the idea...don't know if that's possible, but I'm going to do it anyway.

I support the proposal - it will be nice to have a chance to do more in the world! (I have not gone end hunting - that sounds like fun)

Much like every election I've ever participated in, I've cast my vote which will be promptly ignored. ;p

there's something about the random, sometimes, weekly reset that i like that adds to the challenge of using the resource world.

i enjoy it being there so we don't strip survival, but the compromise for me from vanilla is that the reset is a short and irregular.

The person who has to do the work of resetting the world should be the one to decide if and/or when it happens.

My 2 cents.

good point. My personal desire is to try a couple things that require 1.5 chunks. A week would be too short to accomplish much so if there was even one time where Curley said, "After this reset, I will wait one month or more before I reset the resource world again" it would fill my needs. I guess thats all I am really hoping for. One time where there is a guarantee of 1 month between resets.

For me, it's not so much the length of time as the unpredictability. I don't mind helping other players, I'm just tired of not having an answer for "When will resource get reset?". It would be nice to be able to throw the resource reset date on my Google calendar and just check my phone before logging in and already have the answer.

Sweet looks like the poll has spoken. Should I reset now or wait for like the 1st or 15th or something?

Heh I just mentioned that I knew people were asking. I don't care either way because I travel far enough from resource spawn that I find what I want easily. ;)

I've been at +2000 +300 for a while and never ran out of stuff to grab. I guess it depends on the quality of the seed. Some times we get a rocking world like the current one. and other times we can a crappy one like the 2nd to last.
I'd hate to get stuck with a crappy seeded world for a month. and I would have been disappointed if this one was reset sooner.

Thanks for everything as usual Curley. Does this mean we will have a month after you reset this world before the next reset?
