NewSpawn

Postby Timberwolf1777 » 12 Apr 2013, 15:20

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the TWiTCraft moderators for their time and creative energy in creating our new spawn area. With the vision of our newer moderators in addition to our veterans, and the available 1.5 materials (like LOTS of quartz), they have created an experience that feels both magical and fantastic. (Anyone who knows my builds, knows that I love how minecraft makes that stuff possible!). The bright new quartz mansion/office is stunning and the secret rooms make it fun. I look forward to finding asim0v's upcoming new super secret room too. The clock tower keeps ties to the old spawn and I am very glad that it is included (in a new grandfather clock style). The new city hall meeting room has a great creative & unique modern look and its dark interior reminds me of a theater experience, which considering the drama that sometimes unfolds in our community, seems very appropriate. ;) I love the floating tree planters, open parkland feel, and the new access stairs connecting the NewSpawn area to our roads. Thanks again to everyone who contributed to the build and our everyday experience on TWiTCraft.

I do also miss the spawn that had become a second home to many of us for a year now. I have heard of the possibility of pasting it somewhere in TWiTCraft (hopefully a region protected park or something) If I can help in any way with this (TWiTCraft land, world downloader file, etc) please let me know. It is very important to me to be able to at least visit the old spawn site. Thanks again to the moderators for your work in accomplishing this also. I guess Im guilty of nostalgia on occasion. :)

Sincerely,
Timber

What about placing the old spawn in or near the twitcraft museum? Maybe like an outdoor park.

I do like the new spawn though. Its nice to change things up from time to time.

Are there plans to improve the look of the area around the outlandworld portal?

The AnonyCorp Satellite spotted this yesterday. I can't wait to check it out on a decent Internet connection tonight...

Never thought I'd call DSL "decent", but that hotel wifi sucked!

i got onto minecraft after hearing all this about new spawn, it was so pretty last night

i then promptly got lost and didnt know where i was until i hit rob's station and omgchad's store. i quickly got over that and the builds in leoville that i can see from spawn are really helping tie everything together

it is a personal eccentricity about navigating thats doing it. it looks much nicer and the quartz in the game is reminding me of bioshock infinite in a clean white lines way. i am really really liking quartz. even though normal nether wont have much/any im glad the server has multiverse. i want to see what people do with quartz here.

I agree with everyone about the new look..its awesome! I had never made the connection to Bioshock until Abigail said something..as long as we don't get everything that goes with columbia as well then I'm ok with it ;)

i dont think so either, but that doesnt have to stop someone from building their own columbia -secession from leoville- quartz city in the sky

(i almost never go to the nether, and i only like to buy what i already have , so ill never get enough quartz for something like that, so the idea is there for anyone who wants it)

Good lord I would almost get brave enough to do it if I had the time!..Plus Columbia is more complex then one would think..Id have to lay a map out for it!

**spoiler free**

just say post -um- things. and have the buildings in their damaged state at the end of the game(okay, one building) and paste over the prophet's sign at the front "new management" and put the buildings anywhich where.

but if the lutece's don't have a bar somewhere i would be thoroughly dissapointed

Colombia was designed to be modular, remember. Sections could come and go. That being said, the design of Columbia may have been an unconscious influence as I had very recently finished BioShock Infinite before beginning the redesign of spawn. The quartz and nether brick combo, whether you love or hate it, was my design. It came out of my design for the multiverse portal platform. I wanted quartz stairs for the platform and used nether brick stairs to give it a red carpet feel. Then I just extended it out and kept going.

quartz was a great idea, its so much prettier than wool and snow. it just came in right around the time an entire game map (of a famous and notorious franchise to boot) was clean white lines everywhere. (my first impression of lutece was the "weird and creepy twins" and they grew on me over the game, id be very dissapointed if they dont have a bar)

you(non-specific 'you'), me, my husband, shwood and even king leo has played infinite (ans sessler and various other people i've watched on youtube talking about the [spoilers]. not everyone but quite a few people i know and follow on the interwebs.

right on top of the quartz update, what a co-in-ky-dink
