Postby NightWorldSky » 03 Apr 2013, 03:51

Looking to upgrade my set-up ( PC, Microphone, Headset, Ect. )
What do you guys have?
What suggestions do you have for me?
I'm looking for a really fast computer set-up to decrease lag and increase performance on YouTube videos.
Thanks! Leave your suggestions below!

Some of your YouTube lag will be related to your ISP, whether or not you're connecting to your router wirelessly, the speed of the connection between your box and your router, etc. Just upgrading the PC might not solve all of your problems, unfortunately.

It will help if you're multitasking (many different windows open at the same time) and, if you use a modified shortcut to start Minecraft with more than the default amount of RAM, you may see moderate improvements when you play.

That said, here's my current PC setup:

- Intel Core i5-3570K Quad 3.4 GHz
- MSI Z77A-G41 Mobo
- 16GB of RAM
- 256GB SSD Hard Drive
- EVGA GeForce GTX 650 w/1GB of VRAM

Mine is a little older, but works well for Minecraft.

Dell XPS 720
64-bit Windows 7
Intel Core2 Quad @2.6 Ghz per core (x4) Q6600
4GB Ram (going to 8 soon)
Nvidia GTX 260 (PCI-E 2.0 216 logical cores, 896MB Mem)

And, although it isn't the most impressive by today's (or 5 years ago's) standards, the tower is HUGE.
Works fine for Minecraft, I turn the graphics down to load smoother (as a safety net against gfx lag really) although I experience no gfx issues, and I can run most hi-res texture packs with no real load issues.
You can likely find this very computer or it's equivalent for about $350 anywhere Craigslist is. Just saying, if Minecraft is all you want to do... Save some cash. Got mine in trade for a 360.

My rig is two years old. Mincraft in any HD texture pack at any render distance (including optifine's extreme range) with all settings on "fancy" works great. Client lag only ever comes from excessive entities, my internet connection, or from sounds loading/unloading.

Custom Rig
64-bit Windows 7
Intel Core i7-980x (6 cores) @3.33 Ghz per core
32 GB of DDR3 Ram
512 GB SATA3 SSD
EVGA GeForce GTX 480 Graphics Card (1.5 GB VRAM)

I also devote about 4GB of Ram to every open MC Client. (This helps keep it running smoothly) I sometimes have up to 2 or 3 clients open simultaneously.

What internet speeds do you have according to speedtest.net? I would also check out http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcforme and you can look around and/or post your budget and what you need it to do and the folks over there are very helpful in finding you the right parts.
