Second tp location? (ie /setwork and /work)
The idea of creating a second setable tp location like a "/setwork" & "/work" has popped up on a few threads including my bringing it up on my " Creeper nuked me in outworld spawn" post.
The idea with this post is to put the idea forward and generate some real talk about it. Personally I am in favor of it as since /suicide has been taken away, that uniquely simple 2nd tp location has been lost to us. Programming remote shops is much harder now. Trying and failing to cross worlds despite disabled gates brought this possible need to my attention in the first place.
I also liked the idea of a possible "/warp" command (Brought up by SkylerCorp) which would teleport the player to the main lobby outside of the survival and flatland worlds.
Curly mentioned he would discuss this with the mods and I know that I would love to find out more.
Update 3/10/13:
After discussion with a few other players and in thinking about it more, I have come up with a modification that may help gain more support from mods, curley, and some of the players who have reservations about the idea. The main reservation that people have (which I agree with) is that this has the potential to make somewhat irrelevant the transportation infrastructure that Robrotheram, DoT volunteers, myself, and many many others have worked so hard to help create. To combat this, my new pitch is this:
2 teleport locations ( a /home and a /rhome) BUT have the ability to set the location of each one confined to a world set.
What this means: We would have the ability to set a /home in the main survival map, the survival nether, the survival end, or flatland but NOT in the resource world. We would also have the ability to set a /rhome in the resource map, the resource nether, or the resource end but NOT on the survival map/nether/end/flatland.
How this idea (if possible) would work: We could teleport to either location from anywhere. i.e. The player's current location is would have no bearing on the ability to teleport to either location. This would vastly help with using the resource world, exploring, mining etc. Resource trips could be accomplished quickly and efficiently. It would also prevent trapping a player in the resource world with a portal destruction issue (like I had). But by not having both setable in the same world, our survival transportation system will still be very important. More players would embrace using the resource world even if they live far from spawn as access from there to their home could be much easier. I know this doesnt help with shop programming but we can still die and use a bed to accomplish programming as it doesnt require carrying items in order to program signs.
I have no idea if this is possible or would create a lot of extra workload for curley/the mods, but I would love to hear the input from the community and any mods that wish to reply.

This has my vote. For now if you want to quick die to setup a store. In my storage area I dug a deep hole just enough to die and covered it with a trap door. Works out ok. I put a lift sign on it just incase I forgot some items on me.

i also would like another /work tp as well. both to set up a new store for myself and the number of houses i have is starting to climb. the one i owuld like to tp to has my store storage so it would be 3 birds with one stone.
and linking a store would not spam chat with deaths, which is thw main reason /suicide was taken away, understandable

I know not everyone can afford a lot in leoville. But now my /home has been freed up cause to get to my home now is /mvs. But I would still like the idea of 2 /sethomes

This is another thread where the idea of a /work style location comes up.

Personally being able to have a /work would be the most beneficial to me, so I support it whole heartily, but I think stargates are a better choice overall for player interaction across the map.

I'm all for a second /sethome or /setwork. Personally, I think this would be better than stargates, but I would take either option as long as we can get something.

Another tp location sounds great to me. Even if I didn't use it for my shop, it'd be nice to have for trips into the far reaches of outworld. Being able to tp home and to whatever mineshaft I was exploring would free up a lot of time, time I could be using to work on my ridiculous goal of getting more emeralds than Freon.

/work sounds great, it would save me the trouble of /spawn > run to shop in mirage & unload wares > /home unload all my non-store goods, repair enchanted picks & start the furnaces going > /spawn run to outworld, run clear back to where I was > rinse & repeat.
Really speeds up the tedioous tasks & allows me to focus on strip mining outworld for goods to sell & use in building in the "real" world.
Side note; distinguish line between real world & Minecraft.

Having a survival (and related worlds) home and a resource world (and related) home would be great. That's precisely what is causing me the most headache these days since I've devoted my /home to the resource world and have to run a long distance to get to my chest room in survival. I really should get the bed/pit trap solution someone else mentioned set up.

Another possibility for those that need a second /home, maybe a system where one could buy the ability temporarily? It would provide another money sink and solve the problem that has been brought up: setting up shops.

I like the idea, though I'm not a fan of the option you proposed Timber, but I wouldn't complain if that was all we got. I just would rather prefer two of them in any world but that's just my two cents.

How about this for an idea. Open up the /warp command to users but we can only set a max of 4-5 warps but we can remove them and make new ones. Also we could only use our own not anyone else's.
