Hmmmm...

Postby DefMunky » 22 Feb 2013, 21:10

For some reason while moving my stuff from chests on the bottom floor of my house to chests on the second floor I was banned from the server with the message "stop trying to give yourself tnt". No message from anyone, no warning, just banned.

At the time I was emptying a double chest of cobble and putting it into the other double chest upstairs. I have two other double chests to relocate... am I gonna get a seven day ban for each of those as well? lol

I am only posting this here as I do not see my name in the "Plank of Shame" yet and I would like to have the ban lifted. I would also like to know that I won't be banned in the future just because I want to rearrange my house, or at least have a chance to tell the admin/mod what I am doing.

Thanks! :)

Hmm that sounds like a glitch. Have you tried connecting again? I know if you spam chat too much it will ban you for 0 mins and you can just log back on. Even if you had TNT it is disabled in the world and would not work.

hey defmunky,

so your ban was due to a bit of misunderstanding. I was logged into the console to do a quick spot check and noticed a bit of grief planning going on via some other members, in the middle of their convo i noticed you trying to issue /give commands. specifically, your account was trying this:

2013-02-22 21:48:15 [INFO] DefMunky issued server command: /give DefMunky 4 64 0
2013-02-22 21:49:03 [INFO] DefMunky issued server command: /give DefMunky 4 64 0

In my attempt to act quickly i mistakenly saw the 4 and the 64 and thought item number 46 which is tnt. I figured you may be part of the group of grief intent kids and were trying to do some dasterdly deeds. Once i got home (roughly 5 mins ago) I noticed that it wasn't tnt. I'm still a little confounded at your odd attempts at /give 'ing your self stuff after being denied. Given a quick lookup of the recent server log it shows this wasn't the first time.

2013-02-22 17:41:05 [INFO] DefMunky issued server command: /give DefMunky 58 64 0
2013-02-22 17:41:07 [INFO] DefMunky issued server command: /give DefMunky 58 64 0
2013-02-22 21:02:28 [INFO] DefMunky issued server command: /give DefMunky 307 1 0
2013-02-22 21:02:29 [INFO] DefMunky issued server command: /give DefMunky 308 1 0
2013-02-22 21:45:23 [INFO] DefMunky issued server command: /give DefMunky 4 64 0
2013-02-22 21:45:25 [INFO] DefMunky issued server command: /give DefMunky 4 36 0

For now I'm unbanning and I offer my apologies for the trigger finger but would advise to give up on the admin commands for the time being. please. ^_^

It was probably because I keep trying to use shift + control + left click to move all similar items from the chest to my bag. It's a force of habit when I need to move large quantities of stuff out of my chests or bags. I tried a few times as I had no clue why it wouldn't work. I finally realized after closing the chest UI. Then later I try again without thinking about it and then realize I'm a derp. lol I've also tried using /back, clicking on items in NEI to get recipes, and other stuff that says I don't have access. lol I didn't know those were admin commands though. I've only ever played on a whitelist server before trying the TWiT server, so maybe that's why I can use those commands there. I also tried making a project table and iron furnace before someone in chat told me this is a vanilla server. lol

Just thought I would pipe in as I remember you asking about the project table in chat and asim0v (I believe) telling you about how the server was vanilla. It seemed you had a moment of "Oh duh .... I should have realized" right before a brief conversation about what a project table was happened. I dunno about any of these plugins/mods/commands that you are talking about but then again I have only ever played on TWiTCraft which is mostly vanilla (as vanilla as it can get at least while still being able to continuously support a large community of players with an economy and security).

I don't believe Not Enough Items works on the server even in recipe mode. And yes, this is a semi-vanilla survival server, not Feed The Beast or Tekkit, so you don't have access to all those toys. Just good old-fasioned Minecraft --more or less.

Well that makes sense. Nei is a simple client plugin that makes controlling the game a lot easier. It's like a creative mode interface on crack. You can easily grab items, change the time, and even manage single player world backups all from a nice interface. Whenever an item is clicked on while you're in multiplayer it issues the server command to give you those items, which is getting denied.

No harm besides a little spam in my console. No worries. Again sorry for the ban.

Yes this is vanilla minecraft. Well bukkit with a bunch of security plugins. One day if the API allows it without too much headache I'd love to run a public twit FTB server.

NEI Recipe Mode should work fine on the server. It's entirely client-side.

I use NEI on twitcraft just for the recipes. It works great too. Saves me from having to search the wiki when I forget how to make something. Sometimes it forgets what mode it was in and defaults to cheat mode. I usually end up clicking a few times before I realize what happened. If curley was watching the console when I was trying to get the recipe for a piston or some other block I don't make often, I could see how he might think i was up to no good. Could have happened to me too.

If you happen to see my client issue a bunch of give commands in your console don't ban me bro! I'm innocent. Pinky swear and everything ;)

As Asimov said. Nei is fine in recipe mode, it's when you try to click on something when It's in cheat mode.

I don't have any issues with people having nei, the cheating is blocked by our permissions anyway. The ban only came due to the unfortunate timing of the console spam. Carry on without fear.
