Outworld end closed
Outworld end is now locked. After spending 4-5 hours looking for a stronghold in the outworld, the hard way, I am told that there are none within the normal range of spawn and all are outside the world border. So I would have to wait till next week. Ok, I understand. Today I relog into TWiTcraft to find that there is a cheater gate to the end that was made by one of our mods (who shall remain nameless) and only a couple people got to take advantage of the cheater end portal. Therefore, both in response to a really poor decision and in protest to the existance of that portal, I have closed and locked it. A new portal will be delivered to us next week after reset.
Re: Outworld end closed
Dude, seriously. That's not cool.
Everyone was told the world was going to be reset once a week. Yes, I put that portal there because the Stronghold was not inside the 1000x1000 block area of the world.
You should have just wait for the next reset.

My reply is this: You made a REALLY BAD decision Leon. I was rightfully upset at your bad decision.
so to your bad decision and then the 1 day ban for "breaking rules" (what rules might I ask? there is no rule that says I cant place blocks in air around an unprotected portal), i say, to use your words, exactly,

From the rules:
2. Be respectful towards other players, Mods, and the server as a whole. Do not talk politics, religion or sexuality.
I kicked you with a message to STOP and you didn't
3. Respect other player’s hard work. It's a bannable offence to destroy or otherwise edit anything that doesn’t belong to you, regardless of intent, unless you have permission from the original builder.
I built that, therefore you should respect it.
7. Respect the building areas in Survival (known as “The Wilderness”) and Flatland. Don't make 1 block towers and dirt houses on unprotected areas.
You were about to cover the portal again with a bunch of protected dirt blocks
In conclusion, you broke 3 rules, I banned you for 1 day and you still complain? you know that rules are serious business for us. I could have banned you permanently for just breaking one of those 3 and i preferred not to.
Get your mind straight and come back once you're calm.

Re: Outworld end closed
Ok well first I would like to say that there is some serious confusion among the ranks about rules and definitions in the resource world. Please write a list of rules for it cause I was originally pitched by a mod that the resource world would be a much more "wild west" style of game play with things like explosions, fire spread, and the rules would few other than "dont kill each other." That said, with your application of normal survival rules to the resource world, you are saying that the info I received was false. Fine, I can accept that and accept punishment for it but please Leon and the other Mods would you come to some sort of agreement about what the resource world's rules will be? and post it somewhere?
As for the rules I broke
Rule 2: Kicking me was rude. You could have PM'ed me and more nicely demanded I stop or even said that u understood why I was mad at your decision. Your choice was to kick first. When I didn't obey you (which, btw, I wish was "respect" cause then my GF would do what I want a lot more
, you banned me. Fine, but I never spoke to you with disrespect. Frustration, yes. To obey you if i disagree with you is not a matter of respect. You aren't a feudal lord to be obeyed without question. Respect is communication that goes BOTH ways.
Rule 3: As far as I was educated on the resource world's rules (or lack thereof), I destroyed no blocks, and the portal as far as I know, is not a "build" but a cut and pasted naturally occurring object. Had this been in the survival world, my response would have been very different. The rules, as I understood them, were different between the two and as it resets in a week I still don't completely understand how the same level of enforcement can apply to both but, again, I understand that I was misinformed and it wont happen again.
Rule 7: Punishing me for something I was about to do? Twitcraft is definitely does not have the USA's judicial system!
As far as I can read, this is a rule that has no application in the resource world: "Respect the building areas in Survival (known as “The Wilderness”) and Flatland" Again, please make a rules list for the resource world. Please convene and give us clarity.
All that said, I apologize for getting mad and taking it out on the end portal. I do now understand that the rules in the resource world are ... unclear as yet. I will avoid it till this can be dealt with.
Thanks

Re: Outworld end closed
Oi.
Umm, so I don't have anymore deets beyond what I've read here and what I've gleaned from twitter but here's my take on this fartsicle.
I agree with timberwolf, Leon, making that portal was a pretty crap plan. I was made aware that the stronghold was cut off by the world border by iPod and we casually discussed maybe extending the world border a bit or maybe just waiting till next week. My exact Reasoning for waiting was to avoid exactly this. Without a big announcement or something that end is gonna get bum rushed to high hell and people are gonna feel wronged. It may not seem like such a big deal but people have been really excited to get a chance to fight the dragon on twitcraft and I totally sympathize with the reaction. These things need to be discussed with the majority of other mods or me before you rocket in and "fix" things.
That being said, timber, Leon is a mod of the server. As I said, I'm only getting info from this thread and twitter so I apologize if I'm missing something. Timber, even though you felt wrong it is not your place at all to go enacting justice as you see fit. In any given circumstance mods word is law and need to be upheld. Yes sometime we can be overreaching and excitable, and mistakes will, and have been, made, but until over ruled by a majority discussion from other mods or a veto by me or young chaddington, the word of the mod is law on any given subject. This will always be how I side on things, lord knows I can't police the server all the time and depend on the mods to voluntarily monitor things for me and their word, no matter if you agree or not needs to be respected and upheld. Discussing the Merritt's of those decisions can be done here, I and other mods will, and have before, make a decision to overturn mod decisions if we deem them wrong.
For now I'm going to get t2 the logs he requested then have a Convo with everyone tonight after work to discuss plans. Right now it's 8 am and I was at the bar till last call so I'm sort of laying in bed with one squinty eye trying to coherently write this out on my iPhone as I slowly nurse my alcohol ridden body back to a manageable state before going to work. Talk to you guys soon.
Oh also, demonfive, your gif posting, if I was emotionally charged about a problem and came here to post about it then found a major mod farting all over my feels with jokes, I'd prolly rage like no other. You're helping no one, though I did get a chuckle out of them this morning so maybe you win this round.

Re: Outworld end closed
Hey everyone,
I just want to say thank you for your time and efforts. Please don't worry about this too much. Between private communication with some mods, in person chats with chad, myriad assumptions, and out of context quoting, this communication chain is completely confusing, even to me. I am not even going to begin to address 98% of it. I do want to say a few things, however:
1: I am very sorry I allowed myself to get so upset that I violated the rules for survival and despite my misunderstanding of what the rules were, I should have behaved completely differently.
2: Despite what some may believe, my frustration had nothing to do with being first to the dragon. My IRL obligations have gotten intense so I fight for time to play MC and the known series of events threw me completely.
3: I am beyond disappointed that despite months of gameplay with much of that time spent developing an array of solely community oriented projects (communal parks, a huge rail system connecting the entire SE area, and a completely non-profit shop (that drove me crazy to maintain) intended to balance the in-game economy, a mod could even begin to choose to pursue a Permaban for my 20 min of (again I sincerely apologize for it) misbehavior.
The fact that this happened has left me with such a bad taste in my mouth for the TWiTcraft server that I am choosing to let Leon win. I have too much going on in real life to need/want an obligation to prioritize playing a game that is no longer fun for me. I truly am done. Thank you D5 for lifting my ban. It really helped by allowing me to tie up the following loose ends:
1. The Citadel region and the Spiral (Jenga) tower are now owned by SGS. Although my acct is still tied to the cart buy/sell system for the skytram. Feel free to replace that if it becomes an issue. My acct has no money.
2. I have completely vacated the non profit shop in the Mirage and my sky5 shop. Both are now open.
3. I have transferred ownership of the Arch tower and Heaven and some of my material wealth to my cousin, Fist_of_Doom, who is new to the server. (He doesnt play much but loved my builds)
Finally, to Leon:
You have succeeded. You have effectively Permabanned the one TWiT employee who played on the TWiTcraft server on a very regular basis. I know I behaved very poorly and I am truly sorry, but really dude. You obviously needed to show me that you are in charge, and I got the message. In my opinion you are an absolutely terrible moderator. Since I have been playing, you regularly make unilateral decisions that you self-righteously adhere to without discussing with the other mods (possibly because they will often disagree with good reason?) and your totalitarian attitude toward your interpretation of the rules is intense. Everything has shades of grey. Everything. I understand that TWiTcraft is your domain, but TWiT is mine. Come by for a visit, so we can talk about this in person.

Re: Outworld end closed
I'll avoid making a post expressing myself until tomorrow. If I were to speak now, it would be entirely out of emotion and not of sense. I'll take a day to calm down, then do what I feel I should do. I'm making this post to let everyone know that this is not being ignored.

Re: Outworld end closed
At the time when this all went down I thought it was ridiculous. Now, as time has past, I find it even more ridiculous.
I don't know how some of these mods became mods, I wasn't around for that history lesson. It currently feels like a secret handshake club and we should be walking on eggshells right about now. If you are a mod on ANYTHING, you should act with calm and cool resolution and always give the benefit of the doubt and look through the shades of gray before a decision is made. Seriously, look at the plank of shame. Bans are being overturned or lessened due to "communication" errors, this is troubling to me. If you are a mod and you have questionable decision making skills, poor communication skills with other human beings, and are quick to judge, maybe you should rethink the power that has been wielded to you.
We can't play on this well ran server without the hard work of mods and I DO appreciate the time they spend to make the overall experience one that I have not wanted to stray from.
With that said, this is true in life as it is in a make believe world like TwitCraft. "Absolute power corrupts absolutely."
(hesitantly pressing the submit button, but I feel the same way Timber did)

Re: Outworld end closed
Simply put the mods on the server are those that chad and I personally know and trust wholeheartedly. We chose them from our years experience working with them on many projects stretching far beyond other minecraft servers. As stated a in a couple places in this forum and on twitter, I think all parties can agree that this situation was handled quite poorly. We have all had many discussions regarding it and how to better handle things so we may mitigate the possibilities of future issues. Leon's hotheadedness regarding moderating has been brought up and discussed before, and while his moderator status has been a point of contention with a few he has also been one of larger contributors of time and server since its inception. I have never doubted that His full intent in all interactions was to create a stable, safe, and better server for those all involved. As seen in his point, He has admitted that he was, unfortunately, not up to the task and has since back down in a stand up gentlemanly way.
You should have nothing to fear as a player on this server and definitely have no need to walk on eggshells. If there is a conflict between a mod and a player as long as the conversation remains calm and coherent I doubt any banhammers will by flying and if a player feels an issue was not resolved in a satisfactory way, we have every available venue for arbitration available. We have an irc, open forums, twitter, email, and, in my opinion, our greatest strength, a multiperson moderator staff with unique opinions regarding how to play minecraft. What you may see sometimes as miscommunication is just us have, sometimes, heated debates regarding just how to proceed regarding an issue. While small issues crop up I think this makes us an overall better server as we all grow alongside the server.
TL:DR No need to fear mods. We do genuinely have your best interests concerned. Please come to us with any suggestions, I'm open to any ideas. We all volunteer our time and I think we do a darn tootin' good job, most of the time.
