I think it now worth sharing here; there most likely will be difficulty in virtually every server (including TWiTCraft) upgrading to 1.8.

For those who have not been following developments in the last few weeks, Bukkit (a fundamental component of TWiTCraft's server, Spigot) has run into development and legal issues. Yesterday, near the entire Bukkit team has resigned after conflict with Mojang over the ownership of Bukkit and a DCMA takedown issued by a contributor of Bukkit.

Here is a rough timeline of events as they have happened to my understanding (links may contain strong language):

• EvilSeph announces the closure of the Bukkit project, citing a lack of motivation and legal uncertainty with the EULA
• Mojang turn around and claim that Bukkit is not EvilSeph's to shutdown; Dinnerbone says he will continue it for 1.8. Up until this point, nobody knew that Mojang secretly acquired Bukkit (only the team was supposedly acquired)
• Former contributor Wolvereness files a DCMA takedown, leveraging a GPL license clause wherein his GPL contributions to the Bukkit project means Mojang must open-source Minecraft's server software as GPL. This takes down the downloads for Bukkit, Spigot and Cauldron.
• Mass exodus of the Bukkit contributor team ensues

Subjectively speaking, I find it very unlikely Bukkit (and by extension, Spigot) will make it to 1.8. Without Bukkit, server plugins such as Stables, PRISM, Essentials (think /home and /spawn), etc. will all be unavailable. Feels like really poor timing for all this to happen, but judging from the resignation posts it seemed inevitable. What do you think?

I could go without stables, and the money system, but without /home, we're doomed for sure!

Well...basically TWITCraft has this plugins to make sure everything is working and making things cool, but with out some of our security plugins. That's an issue the owner and some moderators have to deal with.
