What happened here

Postby Sumurai8 » 02 Apr 2014, 05:04

So.... I was standing near my chest while reading something on this forum. I realized that I was still logged in, switched back to minecraft, accessed the chest and started puting in items. Just at that moment I got idle-kicked. I immediatelly tried to log back in, but got a message to wait 5 seconds. So I waited a bit, logged back in and then got the following messages:

Code: Select all
[MV] - Sorry you can't be in this world anymore!
Sumurai8 joined the game.
You MUST read the rules fully at http://bit.ly/tc-rules
You don't have access to go here...

I couldn't access my chest, or interact with anything. I figured something reset that I entered the password, so I typed the password and got the message:

Code: Select all
[SelfPromote] Tweet @curley if you see this message!

This was all while I was still on the survival world. I was not able to type /spawn and I got no clue how else to go to lobby.

I fixed this eventually by disconnecting, waiting for a bit and reconnecting. Can anyone (probably any mod) make sense of what just happened? Who is said person @curley? Why would I tweet him?

It's a known bug that happens every once in a while. The quick way to solve it is to log out and wait at least 10 seconds before trying to get back on. It should be fixed then. In the case that it isn't, a mod will have to intervene. As for the last part, Curley is the server admin.

Also, I think the idle timer does not recognize interacting with objects as "activity" and so does not stop the timer. You actually have to move.

At least, that's what I've observed.

Yeah, you have to move somewhere to reset the timer. Got booted once when I was brewing a boatload of potions but never moved my feet!

As others have said, it's a bug. Log out, wait 10-20 seconds, log back on.

As to the idle timer, yes. The action that resets the timer is movement, not interaction with items and entities.
