Ok, while grass betting, Poster and Vander had a brilliant idea.
Stargates have been discussed multiple times. An alternative to startgates for personal use would be command blocks linked to a specific location with the teleport command. Just a thought, not sure if it would actually work.

Just got done listening. Good Town Hall. I think I agree with most of what was said. I for one would not mind a fresh start and if I could bring some of my coin along that would only be a bonus.
I have recently been playing around with the schematica mod where you can "copy" a build and turn it into sort of blueprint. For people who really want to keep their builds but arent picked for being transfered over; this could be a good option for players to easily replicate their build. You still need to regather materials but then it is easy to follow the blueprint and rebuild.
I look forward to more discussions when 1.7 is closer to release.

An alternative to stargates and a command block is /setwarp...
Curley or someone with permissions just stands at the spot where people need to land (let's call the new location NeoLeo). Then, they type /setwarp NeoLeo. Then, when players want to visit NeoLeo, they type /warp NeoLeo. Implementation takes mere seconds.

I was thinking of that same thing. Like on a friends server he has a room with four doorways each TP to difrent rooms that are the same look as the first but have new Tp option.. with perhaps one option being a return to the first room.

Going to organize this as best as I feel like it :p.
-As for the format, why not have a submission board for those that can't make the date? Like submit your ideas on certain topics/a suggested topic. Possibly some prerecorded announcements? Just an idea.
-I'm down with making the current survival world like chatcraft only allowing current players into it(no folks who join after the 1.7 world has launched) and folks would eventually migrate over.
-A sign on bonus could crash the economy or make a second class citizen... But it could be a nice incentive also a 10k limit is reasonable I mean the idea is a fresh start right?
-Deputy Mayors are a pretty good idea and the whole if they go offline line for a certain time they lose their mayorship. Also I'm not down with the requirement of free elections every 4 months or so. Call me old fashioned but I still like the idea of a Mod Executive Branch that boots a mayor for going offline for extended amounts of time, or griefing or if public opinion goes way sour for a legit reason. (like the case of a tyrant)
That's all I can think of, I may or may not have dozed off (thing's almost 1.5 hours). Much love -Goob

I think the announcements are going to be separated from the Town Hall going forward unless it's something that needs to be discussed after being announced (i.e. "We're doing X on date Y - Discuss how this should go down."). I'd like to get a quick interview/announcement show started soon that would be almost a talk show format except not as long. Basically "Hey, so-and-so is building this and is here today to tell us a little bit about it." Estimated show length would be about 20 minutes.

I think 10k is fair to those who have 10k. It's not as fair to those who have 200k. As discussed in the Town Hall, I'd like to see this bumped up to 100k. Would you be willing to negotiate on a sum higher than 10k?

I haven't gone back and listened (too much was going on for me to process the whole thing in-the-moment), but I may not have made this clear: Under Van's proposal, each town would have a moderator-selected "mayor". The proposal that I and others have made is that this "mayor" initially be a "king", "dictator", whatever - Basically, they would have the initial say in how their town was managed. The voting thing was my example of how I personally would run my town if I were to be a mayor. Another mayor might handle things differently.
Right now, we need to come up with a draft of the move. My historical preservation and TWiTCraft dream threads are the first steps. Once we have the "key builds" selected and the way we would like to proceed ironed out, we can go to the moderators. If the plan is approved, the mods will then either select the mayors, have a player election for the mayors, etc. Those mayors would then have to decide how to run their towns (the initial election process would most likely require that the candidates submit a proposal for how their town would be operated).

Don't know if this has been mentioned elsewhere but how about a percentage of money being moved over. 10%, 20% or even 30%. It seems more fair than a flat amount especially to those who have spent time on accumulating wealth (myself included) but not create such a huge gap between the "haves" and "have nots".

From one canid to another, I approve this message.

That's actually the solution I thought of as I was trying to sleep last night. Good call, x3fox!
25% works for me, does that sound agreeable to everyone else? (Please reply with a "Yes" or "No, here's what I would prefer" and the amount)

Anywhere from 25 to 30% sounds good to me.

Re: Town Hall 09/14: The 1.7 update
This is just me but part of the appeal of the new 1.7 map is a fresh start now i know that money doesn't really matter but I never did say a 10k flat for everyone, maybe staggering up to 10k? Again this is just me but I'd rather there not be any money given out then massive amounts in a percentage type deal. But then again if that's a big no no for everyone involved (although most folks were on board with it before this idea was even brought up) it doesn't matter to me, money for myself was always just a means to an end and I will live with it. I'm just afraid that folks will use these massive amounts of money to land grab all the areas around towns before the towns get a real chance to grown and then the player base is stifled by this. But then again most folks who have the massive amounts of money are good people who wouldn't do that. Again just my own personal views on the subject.

Re: Town Hall 09/14: The 1.7 update
So just to address a current theme I see here: the idea of a "fresh start." Many of us dont want a "fresh start." We have worked hard and spent time gathering money and resources to make our MC experience easier so we can focus on what we love: building stuff, redstone machines, etc. Now we are being asked to give it up so that the people who do want a fresh start can have it. Well, personally, I am willing to make sacrifices and take a big step in that direction in order to allow those that want a fresh start on new world to have it.
But my "big step" doesnt mean the entire distance.
If you are a player that wants a fresh start, then by all means hop into the new world a naked newborn with 300c only and GO FOR IT! I and others will not be taking that leap with you. We need something ... some decent part, percentage, etc of our hard won wealth to come with us if we are to continue. Money seems like a good option as its not immediately that useful when there will be no shops to buy diamonds, iron, enchanted tools, etc. from for a while and the Diamond Debacle wont make a difference to it. Also how does having money mean anything for claiming land? Land near spawns will still be subject to fencing, signs, regions, AND in a new twist: whatever rules that that town's charter has established. Besides that, there really was only ever one corporate giant who tried to get all the land possible right next to spawn (cough cough ... SGS) and its CEO is now a mod. Much of my desert plots actually went unclaimed for months and I only snapped them all up like 6 months after the server started. We will now start with vastly more land close to the spawns. I think it will take a good long while before its an issue.
