Town Hall Openness, Revision, Committee

Town Hall Openness, Revision, Committee

What the community wants for Town Hall is a priority for the committee. There is no head leader of the town hall committee. It's a group designed to put together a Town Hall and look at what really needs to be addressed. Now this doesn't mean your concerns won't be heard during a town hall. If we don't bring up a topic we will have an open discussion every town hall for you to bring up concerns you have. We will not limit anyone's time on the topic they bring up. We want town hall to be an open discussion for anything to be brought up. If you have any concerns on the openness of Town Hall please send a Forum PM to spinnibbler and PosterAnonymous.

Now for the members of who is going to be part of the committee at this time: spinnibbler and PosterAnonymous.

Now we are looking for others that would like to join us. The only thing you would be doing is either looking at what the community has submitted at important issues and/or hosting/moderating a town hall. We are looking for at least 3-4 more people that are active players in the community that are not mods of the server. If you are at all interested please send a PM to spinnibbler and PosterAnonymous or leave a comment below that your are interested.

Linked below is the town hall structure we are going for:

The Revised Plan

Crossed out areas of the doc will not be used but are there to keep Town Hall open.

Now some of our player base won't be able to attend a town hall and they will miss out on the discussion. We plan on recording every town hall and publishing them after the fact for people to download. We have set up an RSS feed for people who would like them auto downloaded.

Anything Town Hall related will be posted to the Podcast sub forum. Town Hall Announcements, Change of Date, Recorded Town Halls etc.

For submitting topics to Town Hall please use the link provided. Along with that is all topics that have been submitted. Submit Topics Submitted

The committee will be looking actively at the forums to see what is being discussed as well as topics submitted to the form above.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Any constructive comments you have please leave them below. If you have any ideas leave them below also.

Town Hall is here for the community and for voices to be heard so don't be afraid to speak your mind it's all for change and the betterment of TWiTCraft.

[This will be reposted in the General Discussion subforum because it is apparently being missed in this subforum.]

In all seriousness, those of us who've participated in previous Town Halls know the limits of acceptable behavior and, by and large, are great at abiding by said limits. The main concern some have had previously, and that we're all guilty of, is that sometimes points are reiterated the same way multiple times and thus extend the time without adding any new content. Previous suggested solutions have been rejected because they have the potential of limiting speech if not exercised wisely. I've discussed this with Spin and he and I agreed that any moderator of the Town Hall (not to be confused with the Server Mod team - Different group altogether) should not hinder/disallow/etc. any player from speaking their mind. While this runs the risk of having too much repetitive information, it also prevents any one player from not being heard.

Another concern expressed by some is that one person or another has taken control of the Town Hall. That is not the intention of myself, Spin, or anyone else currently playing on the server. Input will still be actively sought from the entire community and no one person will have the final say in what is/is not appropriate (provided the discussion adheres to the server rules regarding general in-chat language/topics).

The purpose of the committee that Spin proposed is to spread out the responsibility in case any one person is unable to perform a task. Imagine this scenario, for example: Let's say that I got a flat tire miles from home while making my beer run for post-Town Hall festivities and couldn't make the start time. What would have happened if I didn't make it back in time? In the case of this committee, someone else could take up the slack and host the event with little noticeable interruption from the participants. That is all we are looking for.

Despite how it may have appeared, I was never in charge of the Town Hall.

I did moderate the Town Halls during Spin's absence, but I did not own them. You, the community, own Town Hall and you will continue to do so. We're just trying to make some redundancies in the behind-the-scenes planning/post-planning process.

If you are able to volunteer to record the Mumble session, host a meeting, edit a recording, or just simply provide input on topics to discuss, I highly encourage you to join the Town Hall Committee. You'll be doing the entire server a great service.

I am unable to make it, sadly. Is there a suggestion thread or anything we can post thoughts in? Maybe a poll we can start, kinda format it like:

(For instance)

I think that adding another warp command for a work location (ie /setwork /work) for players working on long distance projects (ie railroad, exp farms based on spawners, etc.)

Quote me to vote for it.

To keep idea threads in a single thread, "voting" for an idea to be considered could be done by quoting.

That is an issue Spin and I have discussed. If we can organize this committee, we can have more players who are available at the odd hours to pick up some of the players who can't do Saturdays @ 6pm ET.

I am positive that I can make it on Saturday.

Again, I am honored to be part of this wonderful server. ;)

About 1.8...could someone please specify? I have spent hours on my projects.

(This is nothing in comparison to Timber, who actually left because of this...)

I just don't want any more heart break...at the moment
