Building Rule Violations

Postby asim0v » 04 May 2012, 21:02

There are a few rules in place to govern building on lots, but I'm noticing an alarming increase in rule violations. So what I want to know from you, the residents of Sky5 City, is what we should do about it. I'm considering an eviction rule that allows me to remove an offending house should they not fix the issue within a certain amount of time. The materials on the lot would be stored in a safe location for the person to gather later. Again, nothing is set in stone yet. I just want to brainstorm with the rest of you.

I did talk to some of the mods tonight and heard that they are working on more finely tuned permissions for cities and towns, so hopefully we'll hear something more about that soon.

I'd suggest that you reserve the right to fix the violation however you see fit. Whether it be by replacing/removing a couple blocks (not necessarily matching the intended pattern of course) or putting torches around etc.

I just don't think everyone visits their house very often to note the signs out front heh. Some don't even play anymore. (Though then again in those cases eviction could be interesting! )

Well, that can get complicated since some people have region claimed their lots or have locked doors. I certainly don't want my actions to be considered griefing. I also try to talk to the person when I see them online, though I'm not on as much as I'd like to be due to work.

It just feels to me like people are grabbing an open lot without reading the rules, so the policy of grabbing an open lot will probably have to go away in addition to other rule chanes.

I blame me. That's always a good strategy.

I approve of you doing as you need to maintain your city. Through your work and judgement so far you've done more than i could have hoped for moving towards having more then just one central city in such a short time.

Nothing is finalized yet but we are talking about furthering the automation and security for expanding towns and cities. what you can expect is something allowing large communities like what you have built to be able to move from small individually owned regions into towns and eventually cities that will have their own perks.

Somethings we're deciding upon would be to have the whole town/city region protected with an elected mayor or founder that would be able to doll out plots as they see fit (currency based or however that town/city decides to run itself). The ideal would be for these regions to allow players to have their place in said city while also maintaining their ability to have their one region allotment elsewhere as they see fit. As well as give the person in charge of the city an ability to maintain order and growth without any need for mod intervention.

Additionally I would like to see other benefits granted to towns and cities to encourage player to grow and work together to gain that status. Maybe a city could have it's own startgate linking with other cities. maybe all citizens could receive a daily salary or coin boost for being part of the city. maybe the mayor or owner could grant money for hard working citizens. Hell maybe the mayor can maintain a separate bank account in iconomy that players could pay into and that can be used to pay citizens or hold raffles or tournaments of their own.

Now i'm just getting carried away in random thoughts but i just wanted to pop in a give you a heads up that we are discussing this stuff and once we nail down just how we're going to implement things we'll let you know.

Again, thanks for all you've done and continue to do Asim0v

No, thank you Curley and all the other mods for keeping TWiTCraft safe! Those are some great ideas about cities! And I would love a city bank so I don't have to keep the city treasury (for the store) in with my funds. Please keep us posted on further city developments (or just me if it bores others  )
