More commands availiable to the users.
To whom it may concern:
I'd like to see the users have access to a few more of the base essentials comands that we have, ,but are not permitted to use.
/back This would allow us to warp immediately back to our death spot when we die...it would also allow us to teleport from one point, back home, and then right back. Now, I'm not sure how this will work on the server as configured with the seemingly random lag that we have. But I'm sure we could test it in a small beta and see the impact.
/warp, /warp set This would allow us some limited teleportation between user defined points. Say, a central home, a quarry and the elevator to Sky5. One could simply do a /warp set {Name} at the desired point, and then teleport back later with the /warp command.
Kits: This would allow the server to sell us a predefined kit of tools at a server defined price. Useful if your only diamond pick broke in the quarry miles from home and you didn't want to run home.
Multiple homes. This one is self explanatory. Almost all of us have homes in multiple places. All that would be required is to give the general populace essentials.sethome.multiple or essentials.sethome.multiple.{set} access and restart the server. If I recall correctly, this information could be logged to a mysql database. 9Though Im not sure about that)
LWC - I'd love it if my doors wouldn't randomly stop autoclosing with LWC.
If you guys need any help with the server, you've got at least half a dozen MC Server moderators on thier own boxes that could help out, I'd welcome the chance to help out if I can, just let me know by ingame email, or ask one of the players to get in touch with me. i'd be glad to help if I can.
I know you guys have probably adminned tons of MC servers before, but hey, I'm just offering to help if I can.
As far as the lag, any idea what's causing that or whats going on when the lag spikes occur?

Re: More commands availiable to the users.
First off, Thank you for your suggestions. they will all go into discussions.
However, Most of these include the use of a type of teleportation. We have limited that on purpose because we don't really want people "tp"ing all around the world willy nilly, especially in survival.
the back command kinda gets rid of the idea of survival, i mean if you die and lose your items, yea, it stinks, but that is part of survival.
warp is really just another home command, except if i remember correctly anyone can use them.
we took our time putting in even 1 home because in our previous server people had multiple homes an there was zero traversal after homes were set. we want people to have to traverse and meet up with people in the wilds.
(Personally i would love to see train tracks all over the world)
Kits seem like a good idea, however, we have been having trouble setting prices for the serve store as is. this would take a while to implement, and chances are it would only be a sign at the server store to buy.
I know Demon5 was selling a beginners kit earlier. and I am actually trying to make a beginners adventures kit, but maybe i will also make some extra diamond picks and sell them.
Again, Thank you for your suggestions

Re: More commands availiable to the users.
I agree to the lack of too much teleportation being a good thing. too many available may invalidate the huge road/rail system projects others have already built and/or discourage such projects from being initiated in the future (and they tend to unite the community and give them a goal to do etc). That plus we get to see and admire other peoples work on the way around!
I can see the /back thing also being really irritating if someone decided to spam death messages in lava or something.. what about a death chest mod though so that your stuff doesn't despawn in a couple minutes whenever you die? So not only can you take your time getting back there, or get help to form an expedition to get back there, but others can also go treasure hunting and find "remains of other adventurers" in random caves now and then (ie former players dying there and deciding it wasn't worth the run back) and this would hopefully save stuff from a lava death too while not making it any easier to get back to the place of death. Main drawback may be someone deciding to farm chests or something by spam dying, but eh, it'll be funny seeing the number of chests in the desert below Sky5 too.

I don't think we need warp commands in survival due to the size of the world. I've played on servers where you literally had to walk several in-game days to get to a destination. In that case, it makes sense. TWiTCraft isn't that large.

It takes about an hour to walk from border to border.

With the spawn in the middle, there's no reason to walk straight from border to border. A quick /mvs and you're half way there. No warps encourages players to build roads and other transportation systems rather than relying on a shortcut. Maybe once the world is more densely populated I'll feel different, but I prefer to not have them for now.

Not really the point.

I completely agree with nikon here. I'm very anti having players warp around. On our last world we had a very intricate subway system that went damn near unused due to warps and having multiple homes. Hell i was against even having 1 home for each player but was outvoted ^_^
