Stargate Mod
I think it would be really cool if we could get the Stargate mod. It allows you to build large and small stargates and the ability to travel from one to the other with out having to walk along ways. They can have pass codes on them so that one the person using them can get in and they also have a iris so if its closed no one can enter. It also has a net option so lets say you wanted to link all the players homes, or make a net for mods only so you can have a building and no door but can still get in. Rubicant and I have had great success with this mod and I would love to see it make the twitcraft servers if possible.

Re: Stargate Mod
I have plans to implement them. They ddin't make it in the server at release due to being outdated and nonfunctional with the current release of minecraft but have since been updated ^_^. Basically for the short term they will be used in place of the current nether portal world teleporters. I'll think about allowing them in other places.
Re: Stargate Mod
I'm bumping this old thread because I'm interested in getting something added to the server for towns far away from leoville.

The idea sounds cool but I like to priorities the the rail lines
But I have a vested intrest in that enterprise

I get that. My specific city that is being built is a 10 minute rail rail ride from spawn. I'm just looking to cut that down because 10 minutes in travel is a bit much to me.

Re: Stargate Mod
So I'm assuming in lieu of the Stargate Mod we were allowed to build above bedrock in survival nether.
I guess it's kinda cool to be able to build rail up there but it takes part of the challenge out of survival, not sure if I agree with that decision.
Also it looks ugly:

Agreed. What happened to 'as vanilla as possible'?

The ability to build above the Nether is vanilla. Has nothing to do with plugins or the way the server is run.

Yes, but how would someone in survival break the bedrock layer?

Re: Stargate Mod
Hmm, I checked it out, and it wasn't using the vanilla bug to get above the bedrock, as I had thought. If you guys are mad about people building above the bedrock, I guess we could take remove [lift] signs, but I'm not sure too many people would be happy about that.

Re: Stargate Mod
not to sound nooby but ummm... yeah, how do you get above the nether? If there's a trick in [Lift] signs we could just disable them in the nether or look for another solution. Then again if there's a vanilla trick to get above the bedrock then there's not much of a point to try and block it.

There's vanilla ways to get on top, but not to get down. Here's the way I assume it was done:
1. Place a [Lift Up] sign somewhere in the nether.
2. Use one of the several possible vanilla glitches to get on top of the nether ceiling.
3. Place a [Lift Down] sign directly above where you put the [Lift Up] sign.

Re: Stargate Mod
Demonfive got it right.
The above-bedrock Nether railway is my project with a view to connect multiple remote destinations of the overworld, encourage travel and expansion outside of the developed region. For example, where in Overworld it takes about 5 minutes to get from the Citadel to Hyrule via Skytram and Airfield Rails, it only takes 40 seconds to make the same trip via Netherail.
The current one-way track on the bedrock was set up for testing and as a proof-of-concept. I intend to construct a covered track with 2-4 lane tracks. I will be happy to see suggestions for connections and routes.
I used the "Nether Pearl thrown against bedrock" to gain access to the space. It's a fairly well-known glitch and did not require any hacking. Indeed, there's no way to get back into the Nether space after, so that's where the lift signs kick in.
I strongly believe this would add to the gameplay experience on the server and I hope everyone is okay with it.

Re: Stargate Mod
If you can sir, I'd like to have you at the town hall meeting tonight if you are free. This nether rail project is something we would like to discuss with everyone.
Re: Stargate Mod
This wasn't mentioned at the January Town Hall, so I'm bumping the thread. =-)
Will this be added?
If so, how much will this cost?

Re: Stargate Mod
If the plugin for this isn't functional, could we not just use multiverse to do mostly the same thing as Stargates?
Re: Stargate Mod
Any chance we can get an official decision about stargates/town portals/multiple homes/warps before the Leoville Plots lottery closes on Feb 23? If it's easier to get to distant spots on the server that could greatly affect bidding decisions. Even knowing that instant transportation will become available eventually would be great to know.
