Stonerun

Postby Krowbar » 14 May 2012, 22:20

Hello! Myself and some friends started what we would like to be a community town we're calling "Stonerun" due to the large amount of cobble and stone that's gone into building it. We would absolutely LOVE it if people either came out to build homes, houses, and shops in our community or just came to gawk at what we have going so far.

Directions: A mine track can be found on the north-east end of Leoville that will take you across the ocean to Stonerun.
Location: 2222, 65, 111
Genre: Medieval fantasy
Founders: Krowbar, Lirvan, Ergzay, TwisteDiver, PulserandeOga
Rules:
* Don't be a jerk.
* Grab a plot (or several) and mark them with a sign post
* Stay within the medieval fantasy genre

Someone earlier today asked if you had any rules in regards to digging down after claiming a plot, assumedly for some sort of basement (though who knows how deep the rabbit hole can go) - would it thus be alright as long as it doesn't turn into a full-fledged mine?

I think you mean 2222, 65, 111 (unless your building outside the world border)

Mining down is perfectly fine. In fact, I wouldn't mind rabbit holes that went down even 30 blocks or so. The only problem would be if they hit mineshafts or passages already in existence.

 Uh... yeah. Fixed in OP.

Well there are plenty of areas around the town where a Mediterranean villa would work quite nicely. Notably closer to the ocean in the south-west. We'd like to link up several towns so that'd be pretty cool, actually.

I was out there again Krowbar, very nice town, getting big already. Very handy with a railway straight to the place.

Personally I think there is a bit too much cobblestone (could do with a bit more smooth stone :) ), and the plots are a bit tiny.

But your town deserves some contribution, so i might well return to set up a shack by the sea :D

Sounds good! I agree with you that there is a lot of cobble used in the walls. Smoothe stone is rather expensive. As for plots, you're more than welcome to zone out multiple ones for a house. The 11x11 grids were more for my purpose when I was sizing the whole thing (I wanted it to be absolutely, exactly the right size and not just "long enough"). We already have a couple projects sprouting up around. A sea shack would be quite fine. :)

EDIT: If you would like to help contribute by working on the walls (eg adding smoothe stone or half blocks to make it look nicer) talk to Lirvan first. He made most of the walls by himself but probably wouldn't mind someone else's creative additions.

I added a nether tunnel from Sky 5's Nether base to Stonerun's portal - pretty much tabbed out my stone supply :)

Thank thee much. Now I have even less of an excuse to not visit Sky5 more often!

I don't know if anyone is still reading these forums, but for what it's worth

STONERUN IS NOW A COMPLETELY FREE-EDIT AREA!

Want to upgrade the ramparts? Do it! Think there should be more shops in the town? Add them! Have an idea for how to fill out the castle keep? Implement it! Think it would look better with a few blocks removed/edited? Do it! Think the town should be completely wiped from the map? Please don't...

My friends and I have been busy with life and other things so we're basically giving up any type of unofficial or official claim on the town, the keep, the walls, the farm, and the surrounding forestlands. Do what you like with any of it! I may be on again some time in the future so I'd be appreciative if it wasn't all destroyed. :) The only things that are "off limits" are several of our chests that we still have locked to our characters.

I'm honored to take part in the revitalization of Stonerun.

House Vantes will be the identity of my StoneRun Presence and I proclaim myself Sir Vantes of House Vantes.

We will strive to keep the medieval atmosphere of Stonerun and encourage new residents to join our effort in creating a fun and supportive community.

Thank you,

Vantes
