Pod Sixia

Postby Danielf847 » 25 Jul 2012, 13:57

Description
PodSix is a [Proposed] Underwater City. It will have many resources available for free to new builders (atleast until a thriving marketplace is established.) Some of these include a full farm, tree farm access large quantities of smooth stone and glass (to meet aesthetic guidelines) and many other more valuable resources will be available for purchase at reduced cost. We will also eventually be building an xp farm, full gamut of enchanting tables, a cooked pork farm and many other resources.

Location:
approx -3200, 47, 1500

----Info-----
Rail access from sky5 hub

Stucture:
Sea Level is y=63.
Ground floor is considered y=46 (or a F3 readout of 47.62)
The base of the canal is Ground-9

----Rules---- (work in progress, please post to request additions etc)
where ground- or sea-level- is noted, it means ground level minus and sea level minus respectively

residential building rules:
-do not build wider than you are alotted.
in the case of Lapiz Lane, that is denoted by the lamps.
-Digging at P6 IS permitted. but the structure may not be larger than your surface facing structure, and may not extend below Ground-16
-your surface facing strucuture may not exceed Sea-Level - 5 without explicit permission from one of the founders (we would like room to build another public structure if necessary, and do not want to interrupt boat traffic. )
-your surface facing structure shall not exceed 30m from the inner glass wall of the street on which you are building.

Commercial Building Rules:
Commercial building space is not yet available, and all plans must be discussed with founders for approval but the following guidelines will always be true:
-Must have canal access
-Surface facing structure may not impede boat traffic
-May not dig below Ground - 16

If you have any suggestions, or any better wordings for what I already typed, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey all! For those of you who haven't made the trip to Pod Sixia, here's a link to a brief gallery:

http://imgur.com/a/qlJ85/all

It is currently a work in progress, so suggestions for modifications are always welcome! We have plenty of room for expansion in all directions, but if you're wanting to branch out from a main hall/structure please get with Dan, LW, or myself to let us know. Also, don't be afraid to ask one of us for help building in the ocean - It can be hard to do and we're willing to help. :)

The canal access that Dan referred to is going to be an underground system that will eventually link up to surrounding landmasses. Basically, it will be like the rail system except going to lesser traveled areas and all linking back to P6. It is self-contained underground at Y=39.62. Currently, Dan and I have our stations built, but they are not connected at this time.

For those who are interested in building in P6 or who are currently building there, we need to schedule a time to meet up on Mumble so that we can plan out a few of our projects. This weekend is out for me, but if you want to get together next Saturday I'm tentatively available. Let me know a good time (plus your timezone i.e. "6pm EST" or "8pm PST") that you all are available so that we can work it out.

I do have one question, What is the amount allotted for residential spots? You said not to build wider than allotted, is it the same for everyone or is it different for everyone.

Actually, that is something we need to discuss. :) I would say that there will be a standard "size" (aka "footprint") that homes will need to fall within i.e. 10 blocks by 12 blocks or something along those lines.

Quick Update: P6 still exists, but the main builders are working on other projects currently. If you're interested in building under the sea, get with me in-game and we'll work out the details. :)

I've had an idea for what has been built there so far: I want to convert it to underwater ruins. I would need permission from everyone who has built there before I proceeded, however. I'll begin contacting people today via the forum and go from there.

Pod Sixia has been fully decommissioned. Dan and Goob's builds in addition to the rail line are all that remain. It will most likely not be resurrected unless there is a massive demand for new homes far from spawn.

Also Goob's builds that remain are now museums/ruins.

One other possibility would be to rebuild it under Sky 5, but again demand would have to exist and currently I think we have enough towns built.
